Spotting a retro-image on the
cover, Daniel Chan (or Chen Xiao Dong) has come out with his new
release which is ironically titled "Modern Age". This
is a 2-CD offering, which is made up of an EP CD containing six
brand new tracks and a full-length CD containing sixteen of his
past collection songs. Let's
zoom in to the EP CD. The first single is the Latin-style
folkish ballad "Lend Me Your Shoulders"
composed/arranged/produced by Mark Lui and written by Lin Xi.
The second single "Bubbles" is a dance track
composed/arranged/produced by Wu Le Cheng and written again by
Lin Xi. The
compilation CD contains some of his past favourite hits like
"Ten Thousand Years" (or Yi Wan Nian), "Heart
Game" (or Xin Li You Xi) and the Mandarin hit "Heart
Has Someone" (or Xin You Du Zhong).

A newcomer by the name of Ding
Fei Fei. Background
info : she comes from China, she is a song-writer cum music
arranger cum professional Er-hu player, she was the winner of
the 1999 Hong Kong CASH song-writing competition, she has
appeared before in the music video of Andy Lau's song
"Continue" which is written by her, and finally being
a Star East artiste, she has garnered support from showbiz
heavyweights like Jackie Chan, Alan Tam and Chen Bai Xiang. This
self-titled debut release is an EP containing three Cantonese
and two Mandarin tracks, all of which are composed by her.
The first single "Moon Has Forgotten" is a
Oriental-sounding piece with lyrics written by Lin Xi.
There is also a Mandarin version titled "Forget The
Moon". Her
album styling image is designed by model Qi Qi, the wife of
actor Simon Yam. On
a final note, the EP CD doubles up as a VCD which contains the
music video for "Moon Has Forgotton".

KAREN MOK (REBIRTH) (ROCK

Karen Mok (or Mo Wen Wei) has
released a single CD containing one brand new track and two past
recordings. The new
song cum title track "Rebirth" is a ballad number
which is the Hong Kong theme-song for the Japanese movie of the
same name, starring Kyoko Fukada (or Shen Dian Gong Zi). The
two old tracks are : -
"The Light Of The Arctic
Pole" (previously contained in her EP "Karen
Mok") which is the Cantonese version of her Mandarin recording "Summer Fruit" contained in her
latest best-selling Mandarin compilation "Karen
More"; -
"Love Of A Lifetime" which is the supporting
theme-song for the Stephen Chow-Karen Mok movie "King Of
Comedy" (previously contained in the movie soundtrack
album). The single
CD comes in the AVCD format, meaning it doubles up as a VCD
which contains the music videos for all the above three tracks.

1999's most popular newcomer
of the year Joey Yung (or Rong Zhu Er) has come out with her
third release. "Who Loves Me" marks her very
first full-length album CD which contains eleven numbers. The
title track "Who Loves Me" is a ballad composed by Wu
Le Cheng and written by Lin Xi. Her second single
"Really Exciting" is a dance cover of a Korean
track. There is a balanced mix of fast and slow songs,
coupled with varied music styles like dance, R&B, retro, rap
and ballads. The
limited-edition CD album comes bundled with a twelfth bonus
track and a VCD containing the music videos for "Who Loves
Me" and "Really Exciting".
