Housatonic Watershed Case Study

Use the Housatonic River Watershed Fact Sheet available at http:// www.hvatoday.org/ show.cfm?page=info/ main.htm&folder=info    to answer the following questions.  Note the location where you found information for each question.

 

1. What is the average fall of the Housatonic River per mile?  What percent slope is this?

 

 

 

2. How many acres of public recreation land are there in each average square mile of watershed?

 

 

 

3. Make a chart or Venn diagram to compare and contrast the upper, middle, and lower sections of the river.

 

 

 

 

 

4. What efforts are underway to protect the river?

 

 

 

5. Summarize the physical description of the river.

 

 

 

6. What is the average drop of the headwaters? Compare this to the river total from question 1.

 

 

 

7. Make a pie chart comparing the area of the tributaries and main stem of the river.
