Personal Comment: A new type of enigma for a change.

Chicken, Wolf, and Lettuce Enigma

What we know: A man has a head of lettuce, a chicken, and a wolf on the bank of a river. He wants to take them to the other side. He can only take on item across at a time on his boat. He can not leave the lettuce and the chicken together because the chicken will eat the lettuce and he can't leave the wolf alone with the chicken because the wolf will eat the chicken.

Enigma: How can he take the chicken, wolf and lettuce over without losing any of them?

Solution: He first takes the chicken to the other side then he goes back to the original side and gets the wolf. When he gets to the other side with the wolf, he then picks up the chicken and takes it back to the original side. Once he reaches the original side, he leaves the chicken, picks up the lettuce and takes it to the other side with the wolf. He leaves the other side and returns empty handed to the orignal side to pick up the chicken. With the chicken, he goes to the other side of the river.
