Endothermic reactions
- energy is required for reaction to occur
- heat is absorbed
- temperature of products is less (cooler) than that of reactants
Exothermic Reactions
- energy is released
- temperature of products is greater (warmer) than that of reactants
Catalysts
- increase rate of reaction (speed at which reaction occurs)
- are unchanged in the reaction themselves
- enzymes are Biological catalysts
Inhibitors
- slow down reactions
- preservatives are inhibitors that slow down the spoilage of food
