February Sky Chart for 2000

The chart (below) portrays the sky at about 8 p.m. (Standard Time) at mid-month, roughly 9 p.m. in early in the month, or 7 p.m. late in the month. The Moon is not shown.

Hold the chart so that the direction you are facing is at the bottom. (For example, face south and hold the chart with south at the bottom.) Hold the chart overhead. Then the stars will be in approximately the same positions on the chart as they are in the real sky. (Because the chart is designed to be held over your head, the direction marks are not the same as on a normal map.)

This is not a precision star chart. It has been drawn "manually" on a computer. Thus star selection and exact positions are somewhat arbitrary. Positions and brightnesses, as well as the dotted line representing the Milky Way, are only approximate.

How well the chart shows on your screen depends on your system. For the full resolution image, click on it. Then to save it, use your browser's File Save or Download function.
