To protect our personal freedoms we have to accept the idiosyncrasies of the abnormal minds, so the theory goes. If we adhere to that thinking, we are in reality relinquishing a part of our basic human rights. When the constitution was written, this was the attitude of the time:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquillity, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

This concept has become so twisted that we can barely recognize it as reality at the present time.

The Constitution of the United States is being used as a tool to protect the abnormalities of society in general and to lessen the impact it was designed to have for the citizens of the United States. Now, it is a fight within the courts to insure these rights for the common people. Changes in thinking have been made that give back some of what we have lost along the way, but there is a long way left to go.

We made the changes necessary for the treatment of rape victims within the court systems, and we have come a long way in the establishing of justice for the battered women of this country. Insuring domestic tranquillity was one of the primary goals of the Constitution, yet we have veered far from it.

Children should have the freedom of living a life which includes domestic tranquillity. They should have the same rights as rape victims, not to have to stand trial for a crime someone else committed. They should be offered the same protection as battered women, not to be forced to continue living at the mercy of an abuser. Children are our tiniest victims, and they have no form of protection within the grand walls of ‘justice'.

Pedophiles may wish to twist this into a fight to give the children the right to have consentual sex, but if child sexual abuse was understood to be the vicious crime that it is, these opponents would be put to shame. Just because there are some abnormalities in this world does not mean we have to accept them as the norm. They are not. Under no circumstances should they be tolerated as such.

Children ARE discriminated against because of their age. They are not offered even a portion of the protection that should be theirs without question. Children are as human as any adult, yet hey are not given any choice as to what happens to them. We can send them to suffer repeated abuse at the hands of their biological parents, and this is acceptable. (but I think not) Children should have the same right to live their lives free of crime as adults do. They should not have to suffered repeated abuse, or die to get someone's attention.

What do I think should be done? I think that it is far past the time that children are granted the same basic rights to liberty as any other human being. I think that we should establish Justice for them. I think that we should insure domestic Tranquillity for them. I think that we should provide a common defense to protect our children, and that it is our duty to promote the general Welfare of children. If we would do this, perhaps it would establish the Blessings of Liberty for all children and insure their Posterity.

It is far past the time that, as citizens of this country, we stop allowing the abnormal thinking to dictate the freedoms of the even the tiniest citizens. Who is the majority here? Us, or the ones who seek to harm innocent children?

Article. IV.
Section. 2.

The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.

Children are citizens, too. They deserve the same consideration as any other human being and when they are the victim of crimes, they should be treated with dignity and respect, the same as any other human being.
