Daniel Bailey was born May 22, 1842. He enlisted at West Union, Ohio, on June 13, 1861, and served through three years of hard marching and fighting as a private in Company D, 24th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment.
With the war now over, Daniel Bailey returned to Adams County, Ohio, where he resided for the rest of his life. The State of Ohio awarded Bailey a war service medal in recognition of his service as a veteran volunteer.
Daniel Bailey died on February 20, 1892, and is interred in the Copas Cemetery, Brush Creek Township, Adams County, Ohio.
