Enlisted 13 June 1861 at age 26 as a sergeant.
Died 31 December 1863 of wounds received at the Battle
of Stones River, Tennessee.
Sergeant Puntenney is interred in Puntenney Run Cemetery,
Adams County, Ohio
A foot marker states, "Volunteered May 24, 1861, and fell at the Battle of Stone River December 31, 1862; brought home by his father March 19, 1863, and buried where he now lays."
