Journeys of a Catholic Witch: Letter 1

Shelle Wrote:
I am very curious about witchcraft. A friend of mine at work got me started. There are so many things that have a familiarity to me. I have one big question before I go on with my quest. Can I be a Catholic and a witch too? In my quest, I ran into a page that said no, but in other reading it seems to state otherwise. I'd like to know if this is possible to be both and what form of craft might I be seeking. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Brightest Blessings,
Interesting question... well, lets see... a Catholic Witch... Personally, I have never heard of the two working together BUT my brother (adopted student of my mother) is indeed Catholic and learning craft, albeit with a bit of trouble because he has to relearn a lot of what he has been taught to go against. I know quite a few Christian Witches (my mother being one) but none are Catholic.

The big question is not "Is there such a thing as a Catholic Witch" but rather "Can I find a balance between the two that satisfies me" Witchcraft is a very free flowing, none dogma lifestyle... I say lifestyle because it is Not a religion, regardless of the number of web sites that say it is, BS, it isn't.

So yes, technically you could be a Catholic Witch. The problem lies in finding a way to combine the two. I know in general the Church is VERY closed-minded!!! The Tarot was labeled the "Devil's Bible" and the "Devils' Picture Book" by the church in the early 14th century. The cards merely help foretell the future, how harmless is that ?@!( but yes, they can be used for much more) Sooooooooooooooooo.... it is up to you, can you be a Catholic Witch? I say absolutely, what do you say? Can you escape the close-minded brace your faith most likely attached to your mind?

I'd LOVE to hear how your seeking goes! and if you have ANY questions, by all means ask! Might I ask a bit of a selfish question? You are the first I have ever heard attempt this (though I have just recently been getting in touch with others via Internet, so you are most likely not the first, but still)

Would you mind keeping a journal? And if so, would you be willing to submit it for publication on my site?

Seems selfish but it isn't...
1) You will learn a lot more by writing out your thoughts, both when you write them and then when you chose to go back and look for them. My Journals (not all the entries though) are on the site also Yours is unique and I'd love to work with you!

2) Others who may be afraid to ask the same questions will be benefited the tale of your experiences and may be inspired to escape the close-minded trap also!

Please let me know what you think.. if you say "no" I'm not gonna hex you or anything :)

Peace and Joy,
Markus
