Witchcraft vs. Fluff
[LadySim] what does the topic exactly mean? [Topic: Pre-Gardnerian Witchcraft only]
[Markus] well...
[LadySim] I hate to ask you all these questions.
Markus shakes his head.. don't be any question is a good one
[LadySim] Well I wanna know
[Markus] Witchcraft has very distant origins
[Markus] they practices were generally like the original until Gardner came along
[Markus] he's the guy that re-popularize Witchcraft by inventing Wicca with his own more visible and flashy tradition
[Markus] remember I told you about what some call the Fluff in Wicca?
[LadySim] Fluff?
Markus smiles...alright..I'll get to that in a sec
[LadySim] ok.
[Markus] any way... Gardener is the one that introduced Wicca to general society
[Markus] it is flashier, but many original crafters think he's a big meddler and knows nothing about Craft
[Markus] so we want to discuss pre-Fluff in this chan
[Markus] the "fluff"
[LadySim] Ok I get it.
[Markus] the Garderian tradition of Wicca is what is most visible
[Markus] they use all the tools as if they were necessary
[Markus] the magick knives, the chalaces, the bolline, the pentacle, the inceser and incense, the magick circle
[Markus] all of his followers work skyclad because they believe clothes inhibit magickal works
[LadySim] So none of this is necessary?
[Markus] nope... none of it is necessary
[Markus] to preform magick all you need is yourself
[LadySim] Hmm...
[Markus] not a $220 magick knife
[Markus] not $80 worth of candles
[Markus] none of it
[Markus] now don't get me wrong...
[Markus] tools help
[Markus] 1) they are not necessary
[Markus] and 2) homemade ones are just as good and sometimes better
[Markus] they must only be concecrated and cleansed
[LadySim] makes sense
Markus nods... yep
[Markus] also...
[LadySim] So how do I find the per-fluff ways?
[Markus] he introduced the rede as "an ye harm none, do as ye will"
Markus smiles.. you stick with us in #wiccan and #witchcraft
LadySim grins
[LadySim] I mean the basics?
Markus nods...
[Markus] we can teach you everything about the basics
[Markus] and then some
[Markus] these two chans are worth more than a shelf full of books
[Markus] cause you have real people with lots of xperience from all walks of life
[LadySim] I was telling my mother today, that something about all of this didn't feel right
Markus lifts a brow... go on
[LadySim] Well I meant what I was learning
[Markus] what do you think makes it "not feel right"
[LadySim] The money
[Markus] yep
[Markus] I'm a college student
[Markus] I dont' have Money!
[LadySim] They want you to buy all of this stuff
[LadySim] And I would...
[LadySim] Just doesn't seem "natural"
Markus nods... most would
[LadySim] And i thoughts what we were all about
[Markus] that's what attracts people I think... that it seems better than the norm of Xtianity
[Markus] more stuff, more toys
[Markus] but none of it is needed, and it's all so costly
[Markus] the books are largely written by people who only want to Sell and not teach
[Markus] every book I have seen
[Markus] says the tools are necessary
[Markus] not true
[Markus] same goes for colors
[Markus] candle colors do not improve spells or denote them
[LadySim] Hmmm.... so candle colors have NOTHING to do with the craft?
[Markus] nope, not traditional craft
[Markus] candles are sometimes used
[Markus] but they don't justify a spell
[Markus] that is all nonsense to us
[Markus] it isn't to some, but hey, if it works for you... stick with it
[LadySim] You are saying that the "new " believe that colors justify the spell
[LadySim] But in the old tradition
[LadySim] the color has nothing to do ..if a candle is used at all
Markus nods... yep
[Markus] and why would colors have nothing to do with it?
[LadySim] spirits are color blind?
Markus smells something burning
[Markus] hehehe
[Markus] why would colors have nothing to do with it?
[Markus] there is no profound answer.. it's common sense
[LadySim] Whats the difference between black and white?
[Markus] you tell me, what is the difference?
[LadySim] they all burn the same
[LadySim] There is no difference
[LadySim] a candle is burned for a purpose and to burn it for the color would actully defeat the purpose of the candle
Markus nods... exactly
[Markus] excellent
[Markus] and why would one might not even Use a candle?
[Markus] wait
[Markus] I suppose it would be better to ask: Why do some today use candles?
[LadySim] to bring energy.
[Markus] and what have you learned about tools?
[LadySim] Tools are not necessary
[Markus] but isn't the magick in the tool?
[Markus] or in the color of the tool?
[LadySim] The tool itself Not the color
Markus lifts a brow... the color doesn't have magick in it, but the tool does?
[LadySim] No
[LadySim] neither do We carry the magick
Markus nods... go on...
[LadySim] so we would be putting valuable energy into a tool, Therefore, tools are no good.
[Markus] what are tools Truely used for? not as fluff, but when they are used
[LadySim] They are used to distinguish energy
[Markus] yes... but find a better word than distinguish
[LadySim] Like in a crystal ball, you would see through it rather then your eyes.
[LadySim] I believe it is to channel energy.
[Markus] Yes... tools can be helpful in channeling energy, but none are necessary... that is the difference between Fluff and Witchcraft.
