PseudoDancers

PseudoDancers

'Round and 'round they go,
     mimicking an ancestral dance

   forgotten is the reason

       it's all show now.
  a celebration without meaning.

were the Ancestors here, what would they say?

   would they recognize the steps
               motions and rhythms

  they themselves perpetuated?

would they turn their heads in shame,
       looking away from the sacrilege?

Old-style-- as I know it,
          is Much more

different than the old style my mother knew.

     What would the Grandfathers say?
          What would they do?

     Would they nod their heads
and say, "Yes, they've done well..."
or, "They're doing good with what they have."
or even, "That's pretty good, I wish I thought of that."

            most likely not...

"What's that dance, what kind of tribe are they from?"
asking of their own grandchildren and great-grandchildren...
