More about me...
General Info
I was born on March 9th 1973 in Chelan Washington.
I was raised in Manson Washington, and when I was 17, my family and I moved
to Provo, UT, USA, where I started my senior year at Timpview High School. (That is where I met Jon)
I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
After high school, I enrolled at ITT Technical Institute in the Electrical
Engineering Technology department. I did that for 2 semesters, and then went
on a mission for my church. I spent 2 years in the Connecticut Hartford Mission,
and served in 3 different states (CT, RI, and NY). I loved the experience,
and if you want more information about my mission (or mission's in general),
e-mail me.
I got home in '94, and enrolled at Utah Valley State College. I was double majoring in Electronics and Computer Technology, and Computer Science, but I put that on hold because of the job.
Needless to say, I am a computer nerd (NOT a computer geek), and proud of it. I have done this web page with Netscape Composer and EditPad. (and a lot of hacking)
Online Info
My e-mail address is: adamrules@oocities.com.
Or you can page me.
I sometimes have ICQ installed and running..
My ICQ UIN is # 887428 (follow this link to page me WITHOUT needing ICQ!).
Or you can contact me with AOL's instant messenger. My screen name
is 'adamatnact', but I use that mostly for work, so if you see me signed
on, I probably don't have much time to chat, unless it's business related.
I can be found online at home for maybe an hour a day, and at work during
most of the work day. If you want to contact me by ICQ or AOL IM, just request
my permission to add me to your contact list with a message referring to
this page.
I used to frequent a few Kali
servers like: XvT (server #709), Flight (server #417), and Warcraft (server #705),
and use the nickname of 'AdamRules' (really I do, and no it's not an ego
thing). I doubt that you'd find me there anymore, because most games have
adequate IP based multiplayer support, so, sadly, Kali is becoming a dinosaur.
Computer System
My current system is an Athlon 1.3 Ghz true clock speed, running on an Asus A7V266E motherboard (BIOS 1004B).
I'm running 2 IBM Deskstar 45 Gig ATA 100 HD's striped together into a single 90 Gig RAID 0 drive running theoretically up to 200 Mbps.
I've have a Pioneer
DVD-500M
, an IO Magic
6x DVD drive
, and a Sony
8x4x32 speed CD-RW (CRX140E
), that I may have broken.
Currently I have 768 Meg of PC2100 DDR RAM,
but I plan on bumping that up to a Gig for better performance when editing
DV (using AIST's Movie DV Suite v3.x).
My video goes out a nVidia GeForce 2 MX to my 21" ViewSonic
A110
.
Audio is provided by a Creative Labs Soundblaster Live! driving a Yamaha 2.1 system in front, and a pair of Kenwood satellites.
I've got a 4 port IEEE 1394 capture card for capturing DV.
I watch TV on a Hauppauge NTSC tuner card.
I connect to the internet and other computers through a Realtek SN 5200 10/100 Base T ethernet card.
My ISP is AT&T @home, which was cool enough to give me a free Surfboard cable adapter (cable modem for those that do not know the correct term).
I connect the cable adapter to a Linksys
BEFSR41 broadband router. This little beauty serves as a 4 port switch,
a DHCP server, a router, and a hardware firewall all in one. It has many
more features, and costs only about $100, so I highly recommend picking one
up. My internet is always on, and I don't need to have any computer running
a proxy for the others. When friends come over for a LAN party, there is
no squabbling over IP's, and everyone gets high speed internet.
I play flight simulators with my Saitek X36F HOTAS flight control system.
I control my system from across the room with my Evation IRman, and a Sony 7 device universal remote control.
My mouse is a Logitech optical USB mouse. I have a Logitech keyboard as well.
The whole system is kept up with the aid of a generic 300 VA UPS.
Car Info
My favorite way to get around is in a 1967 Mustang GT 350 (Boss 302). But
since I don't have a 1967 Mustang, I drive my 1986 Mustang 2.3 liter hatchback.
This is the car that gets me around until I buy Eleanor. I use it to travel
between work and home. Besides myself, it carries my guitar
, my helicopter
, and my CD's
. Sometimes I let other people into it as well.
The best thing about my car is that it sounds real good. Not, not the engine,
the stereo. That reminds me, I need to get the engine fixed. But the stereo
is nice. It's nothing that I brag about to the thump thump boys you hear
around town, but my music sounds good, and I don't set off car alarms 2 blocks
away.
My head unit is a Pioneer
DEH-31 (35x4). From there I send my speaker level outputs to my front 4" Infinity's
, and some unknown 5x7" half blown speakers in the back. The pre-amp output from the deck goes to a Pioneer GM-X262
200 watt amplifier. That in turn drives my 12" MTX 4000 series
subwoofer (T4124A). All in all, the balance is great! Like I said, my system
isn't a thump system, it's setup to play music closer to what the artist
wanted it to sound like (fidelity).
The next upgrade will be a JL
XR570-CS
to replace the nearly destroyed 5x7" mids that are currently assaulting
my otherwise good music. I am also going to put my MTX into a Q-Logic
box, rather than the high school woodshop project that it is currently in.
I also plan on buying a Power Acoustik (Fahrenheit) CK-12D 12" Subwoofer
.
Work Info
I work for NACT now. NACT produces class
4 tandem switching systems with capacities of up to 80 T1's in a single cabinet.
I started on Aug 23, 1999 as a technical support engineer. My days at the
office consists of helping customers solve problems with their STX switching
platform. Another part of my job is flying to customers sites and installing
new equipment for them. I've been to LA, NYC, Houston, Dallas, and Orange
County on installs.
My e-mail at NACT is ahowell@nact.com.
My resume is out of date now, but here it is
in HTML, and I can provide a WordPerfect or MS Word formatted version (that
looks a bit better in my opinion) upon request.
