the times they are a-changin' plays softly in the background

"in 1971
generations were clashing
maybe then
more then ever
values and ideas were at war

and somehow we couldn't help get swept up in it
i guess"

"i wanted to stay there
in that night
more than anything i'd wanted before

but i knew i couldn't
i was 15
i slept under a roof my father owned
in a bed my father bought
nothing was mine
except my heart
and my fears
and the growing knowledge that not every road was going to lead home anymore."

"inside my house is a cactus plant,
called the century tree
only once in a hundred years it flowers gracefully
and you never know when it will bloom.

hey, do you want to come out
and play that game
it's never too late"

i think the pace of this blog is going to undergo major changes. the journal has been neglected for some time because i was using the front page. from now on i think the blog is going to be more fleeting glimpses than a story. this site becomes a better tool for me if i segregate my efforts.....i can discipline myself to make things better it my goals are more defined. and i miss experimenting with long strains of thought....but not necessarily on the front page....some of you receiving letters from me lately might see my rag tag jumbles of thoughts......

the story of the white vans made me curious, so today i took count. i drove to work and went to a lunch appointment putting about 120 miles on my truck....in that time i counted 134 white vans....now i'm scared.
