A flying header of David Revivo, the younger brother of Haim Revivo, and a cool shot of Andrzej Kubica from the penalty spot after he himself earned a dubious penalty, gave Maccabee Tel-Aviv its first victory this year. Alon Mizrahi reduced the score with a fantastic shot to the bar and in from 15 meters, opening this way his personal scoring list this season, but it wasn't enough. Both teams seem to be in enough troubles, and it's incredible that Maccabee Haifa managed to achieve such a good result in Paris.

Hapoel Tsafririm Holon indeed tried, but it couldn't play equally vs Hapoel Haifa even at home. The Azerian National keeper Alexander Zhidkov indeed saved several great opportunities of the guests, but was beaten by a close-ranger of Goran Milenko and another good free kick of Ran Ben-Shimon.

Maccabee Yaffa still searches for the first points this season, and yesterday the team was broken during 6 minutes before to the break. Ilan Boaron headed the ball in after a free kick of Gabor Marton (38), Moti Kakun deflected in the ball of Ilie Stan (40), and in another 4 minutes, Kakun converted a penalty which was earned again by Gabor Marton. Marton himself spoiled an impression when he refused to shake the hand of his substitute Eli Abrabanel and left the stadium in anger for his early substitution.

Surprisingly stopped by Bnei-Yehuda Tel-Aviv, Maccabee Petakh-Tikwa didn't show anything from its sparkling performances during the last weeks. Tsakhi Shemariyahu managed to equalize the score with a header after a corner and saved the hosts from a sensational loss at home, after Avi Fletcher gave the guests a lead with a superb free kick. The hosts were indeed more active, but a good skill of Shaul Smadja gave Bnei-Yehuda a well-deserved point.
HAPOEL TEL-AVIV - Beitar Jerusalem 1:0 (1:0). [17/10/1998] ----------------------------------------------- Hosts: Sebastian Simerotic (3 pen). | SHAVIT ELIMELEKH 7; F. Halfon 6.5 (R. In an awful refereeing performance of Amit Klein, Hapoel Tel-Aviv managed to beat Beitar Jerusalem from an early penalty of Sebastian Simerotic, given for a foul of Istvan Salloi on Shalom Tikwa OUTSIDE the box. Beitar tried to equalize throughout the whole game, but saw the keeper Shavit Elimelekh in his great day. Klein didn't give Hapoel a clear penalty kick (52), sent off Israel Cohen with a redundant 2nd yellow card (57), and on the other hand, didn't send off Davor Rupenik from Hapoel and Yossi Abuksis from Beitar for their dirty-dirty fouls.

An incredible loser of a team, Maccabee Tel-Aviv managed to give the game to Hapoel Jerusalem during the last 5 minutes. The guests opened the score after a goal pass of Kubica and a good shot of Avi Nimni, but conceded the equalizer 2 minutes afterwards, a great mistake of Rafi Cohen and the flying header rebound of Shlomi Danino. 21 minutes after the break, a sparkling Kubica converted a dubious penalty into the 2nd advantage of Maccabee. 4 minutes from time, however, there came a beautiful answer - Victor Pacha put a clever arched ball to the head of Shlomi Danino, and the latter threw himself forward into a magnificent flying header from the penalty spot; with all the due respect to such an effort, without Rafi Cohen's help it wouldn't be a goal. In another 2 minutes, the story was over, as Salman Amar performed a corner kick, and Victor Pacha headed a cannon ball home from 7 meters.
MACCABEE HERZLIYA - Hapoel Beit-Shean 3:1 (1:0). -------------------------------------------------- Hosts: Lior Asulin (40, 81), Vladimir Niederhaus (82). | Gilardi 6; S. Asraf 5, Y. Herzliya wasn't much better than Beit-Shean, and would've been content even with a little 1:0 from the legs of the young and talented Lior Asulin. The Russian interference close to the end, however, made the score bigger and more positive for Herzliya - first, it was an incredible goal pass of Vassili Ivanov to the same Asulin, and then the substitute Vladimir Niederhaus needed only 50 seconds on the pitch to pass a defender and to mislead Meir Cohen. Sergen Culakovic still managed to reduce the score with a beautiful header, but it didn't make the hard situation of Beit-Shean any easier.

Maccabee Haifa, despite its extremely impressive victory over PSG in ECWC, wasn't in the game during the whole 1st half - the attacks were senseless, and the penetratable defence conceded a goal from the excellent Romanian forward Adrian Ungur. However, during the 2nd half Haifa returned to be its great self and scored 4 times. Most of all, we should mention the great game of the youngsters Yossi Benayoun and Yaniv Katan, as well as the experienced Alon Mizrahi and Radovan Romatko.

A very dull game between the two teams that hardly tried to show anything. A couple of chances were indeed created, but they were definitely not enough to beat the keepers like Akakiy Devadze and Yaniv Mizrahi.
