Below is the article which was reported by Harry Frezza, Jr of the Courier-News:
His team had just beat archrival North Hunterdon for the first time in six years, taking nine of 14 bouts and using some of the match as a takedown clinic.
Steve Gibble, tghe Hunterdon Central head coach, was asked Saturday night how happy he was to have won 46-24, how happy he was to have a team with a 5-0 record.
The coach of the Red Devils, ranked No.1 in the Courier-News top 10 poll, (# 4 in the State by the Star Ledger), looked up at the scoreboard and shrugged.
"I'm disappointed," said Gibble, who was 0-6 against the Lions.
Disappointed because four of his wrestlers had leads and seemingly were on their way to victories, only to lose.
"Who kows what it could have been," said Gibble, taking one more glance at the scoreboard as the crowd left North's gym. "We have four kids on their backs and they turn around and beat us. They didn't finish off their kids. That's not acceptable."
One of the bouts Gibble referred to was the 119-pound matchup between Central's Pete Tarricone and Eric Eisenhart. Tarricone had Eisenhart on his back, but in a flash the North Junior double arm-barred Tarricone and won by fall in F 1:39. That gave North a 9-4 lead, but the night's unlikely hero was to take the mat.
The big North crowd didn't have time to enjoy Eisenhart's turn-around pin because of Central sophomore Levi Miller. Miller, 10-3, quickly took senior Eric Balut, 4-1, down and went on to claim a 6-3 decision at 125. North still led 9-7, but that lead was about to get wiped out.
"That's the match that tuned it," said North Hunterdon coach Dennis Haughey. "To beat a team like Hunterdon Central you need all 14 of you kids to be at their best and we weren't."
Miller was awarded the first Rick Boehmer Award, given to the outstanding wrestler of the North-Central dual meet. Boehmer, a 1972 North grad, was a standout wrestler and soccer player for the Lions, before going on to star at Penn State. He died in 1996.
"I just worked as hard as I could," Miller said.
Miller's surprise triggered a technical fall victory by 130-pounder Sean Brewer (10-2) and a 17-7 major by Matt Hennessey, who improved to 10-1 at 135. Brewer and Hennessey had 17 takedowns between them and gave Central a 16-9 lead, one it wouldn't give up.
Central put a ribbon on the night, winning five of the last seven. The run was featured by first-period falls by 145-pounder Nick Harrington (12-0), 171-pounder Nick Murn (9-2), 189-pounder Evan Krinis (9-3) and 275-pounder Dan Eberstein.
