RePete’N

Once again I take pen (or keyboard) in hand to provide some insight and observations on aspects bicycling related issues. My tours for 1997 are done. I am pleased to have shared my rides with so many of you and look forward to being with you again next year. Rather than try to summarize the past year, decided to highlight single events that will be provided in this and in the future until the Peach Blossom starts my new season of rides. Perhaps for me the past year can be billed as being full of misadventures. The strangest was when a Hutch***** tire purchased just weeks earlier developed a bubble on my Atsion Tour. This on the road surface! Apparently the inner lining of the tire had allowed the tube to penetrate forcing the tire to blister. Luckily, the bump was noticeable which caused me to stop before a blow out. Contacted Nashb** about replacing the tire. Well...guess what I was told...Nashb** discontinued selling Hutch***** tires!! Not soon enough for me...

Say...I began receiving a complementary year subscription to Bicycling Magazine provided by Nashb**. (You think this a bribe for the tire issue?) Regardless, free is free and I had let my subscription expire awhile ago. I was excited to read my first issue. Only problem is that there is little to read...mostly pictures. Nice article on the Tour de France, but not enough. I now refer to this as the “John” magazine. Just enough to read while in the “John.” Perhaps the price I paid for this subscription is nearly correct...maybe I can get a refund if I cancel??

Then there is the Cardio-Sport Heart Rate Monitor...one of the small yellow function buttons fell off and was lost. (No jokes please about Ol’ RePete loosing his buttons!) I contacted the stateside distributor asking for some replacement that I could install. I spoke to this wonderful woman who said that the button could not be replaced...but if I sent in my watch, she would exchange for a new one!!! I quickly mailed and to my surprise a new watch returned in about a week!!! If your in the market for a heart rate monitor this holiday season...look a Cardio-Sport first and last.

Well...enough for now! Now go back to Quibbles or Front Door
