The young midfielder made his full first team debut in December 1998,
coming in for the
suspended Jamie Redknapp in the 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane. A good
performance, plus
injuries and suspensions meant he kept his place for an Anfield debut
versus Celta Vigo on
December 8th, a game in which he was the only player to emerge with
any real credit, and heard
the Kop chant his name for the first time. He's a player of great potential who has already shown that he can perform at this level and he can play in a number of positions which gives the team many options. A hard-battling midfielder
and a cracking passer of
the ball, Steve is definitely one to watch. In 2000 Steve promote to the England National A team and play some part in the Euro 2000.

Liverpool have completed the signing of England
youth international Danny Murphy in a deal which could eventually be
worth ?million. The Merseysiders have given Crewe the initial
payment of ?.5million for the 20-year-old midfielder, after beating
hapless Tottenham to his signature.
Roy Evans said: 'Danny is a player we have
watched for a long time, and Crewe have kept us informed of his progress.
It's nice to get his signature, because he has a
lot of potential. He can play behind the strikers or in midfield, which
gives us options.' Danny was an ever-present for Crewe last season,
he joined Crewe as a schoolboy and then served two years on the
YTS scheme, before joining the senior squad. Capped for England at Schoolboy and Youth levels,
his full League debut came in January 1994, but he had earlier
already scored his first League goal as a substitute. He was established in the senior side in his
favoured attacking midfield position. Murphy was named in the PFA's Nationwide League
Division Two team of the year at the 1997 PFA Awards.

Crewe on loan. Danny continues to be link with a move out of the club,

The Czech international signed for Liverpool soon after celebrating his 26th birthday in the
summer of 1999. He is a good friend of Liverpool star Patrik Berger and Manager Gerard Houllier refused to be held to ransom over his fee and ended up paying just
?.75m for the attacking midfielder.
He made his debut in a 2-0 pre-season win over Dutch champions Feyenoord, coming off the
bench to score the opener. A skillful, creative and direct playmaker, Smicer will make Reds
fans ask 'Steve who?'.

He signed for Tottenham as a Trainee in April 1991. Then made his League debut against Aston Villa at White Hart Lane at November 1992. In March 1995, Barmby makes his England debut as a sub against Uruguay at Wembley. After 3 season at White Hart Lane, he Joins Middlesbrough for 6.25million in August 1995:, and scores on debut against Arsenal at Highbury. In April 1996, he earned his first England start, against Croatia at Wembley and scored the opening goal of Glenn Hoddle's reign as England manager, in Moldova in September 1996. He moved to Everton in a 5.75 million deal in October 1996. Following a fitful start to last season, during which he suffered a recurrence of a long-standing groin injury, Nick bounced back to hit a rich vein of form for Everton early in the year, operating from either the centre of midfield or wide on the left, and weighing in with a number of invaluable goals. Previously believed to be most effective when behind two strikers, he displayed the best form of his Toffees?career on the left of midfield. Quick and technically gifted, with a razor sharp footballing brain, he is still a hugely popular figure amongst Goodison supporters. He returns to the England side after a four year absence against Brazil at Wembley this May due to lots of injury in the England Sqard. In Euro 2000, he only comes on as second half sub during group games against Germany and Romania. After month negoiatation, at July 2000, Liverpool agree transfer package worth up to 6 million with Everton.Personal terms also finalised for four year contract, with deal set to be completed following medical.Player set to join up with new teammates for pre-season programme and training camp in Switzerland.
Having recovered from his cruciate ligament operation and returning to first-team duty last October, Gary took a short time to recover his timing and accuracy but, by the New Year, he was playing as well as he has ever done for Coventry.
Although barracked by City fans in the defeat at West Ham at Christmas, that was more symptomatic of general frustration of the team. Within weeks he was being acclaimed by the same fans, scoring a superb goal direct from a free kick at Goodison in the FA Cup-tie, and a good goal at home to Middlesbrough.
Sadly, the Scottish fans also barracked him on his return to the national side against the Czech Republic, and after the game he announced his international retirement after 57 caps. Three days later, when his mental state cannot have been perfect, he had the coolness to take and score a vital penalty at Hillsborough to set the team on the way to an important win.
Gary recently scored his 100th first class goal when scoring for the Sky Blues against Wimbledon, recently. Now at the veteran stage of his career Gary is as good as ever and is a very vital member of the City midfield.
Out of contract in the summer he will arrive to Anfield and hope his experience will bring all the best for Liverpool.
Trainee at AJ Auxerre where he has played since 88, Made his top division debut on December 12, 92 v Nimes
Won French Cup in 94 and 96 - and thus the league and cup double in 96.
First match in first league 12/12/92, Auxerre/Nimes.
Diomede has quite a pedigree, with a 1998 World Cup winners' medal
safely tucked away. Now, with the enforced absence of Jamie Redknapp until Christmas, he will have a pivotal role to play
in the Anfield attack this season.
He is relishing the opportunity to provide the ammunition for the Reds strikeforce, and forcing himself back into the French international spotlight.
The 26-year-old has already come to an understanding that he will be utilised in a withdrawn role behind the front two, a position which he feels will bring the best out of him.
