GAME 3 HIGHLIGHTS
Cactus Kickers - Lightning 0 - 7
Kickoff time: 7:30 P.M. at Ed Fountain.
Wheather conditions: Nice and Breezy.
Lightning today was not reconizable and this match showed the improvements
of all the players and every week that goes by we can see these kids
getting better in all the aspects of the game that has been tought by the coaching
staffs. Their shots have been improved and the midfield passes getting
better and so has the defensive line up with a good pressure on every
ball that goes in Lightning side. There is still a lot of work to be
done and more Goal Keeping experience need to be tought, one of the
greatest gray area of this developmental team.
Lightning go ahead in the first 7 minutes with a good angled shot of
TJ. Minutes later Julian put the reds at 2-0 with a nice curled shot
that rebounded from the inside post and went in. Lightning keeping up
the pressure and pushing up the defence caught Cactus Kickers on off-sides
several times preventing any chances to real defend any attacking threats.
Moments later Guy took another shot and scored.
At half the line-up have been moved around and the forwards started as defenders,
and defenders as forwards. This did not prevent Lightning to score again and
Eric, playing goalie in the 1st half, took a shoot from the left and scored the fourth.
Kerry added the fifth minutes later. At this time the reds were instructed not to score
anymore with their feet but only to use their head to score. Although this, Tyler took a
shoot and scored and was asked to come out for no following instructions and
so did Robert K. on the next occassion when he scored the 7th.
Cactus Kickers had their chances to score the first in 4-5 occassion when found
their strikers one on one with the Keeper but their shots either went wide or
too central for the Keeper easy saves. Just unlucky or a bad day for them.
Lightning had a lot of shots on goal today and more then any other games so far,
and created a lot of emotions hitting couple of posts and a crossbar and others
well managed by the goal keeper or wide or too high. The reds played real well
and it must have been the promise that they will all get bags and sweat suits that
must have exited and inspired them even more to play everything they have learned to date.
And it really showed with an impressive and outstanding performance.
Next Saturday challenge with Wildcats will be another challenge to prove
that what they have learned stay with them and they keep perservering and improving
their discovering talents.
