DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

You gotta hand it to the Ramblers. Everybody, including the home team, assumed that Loyola would roll over and die in Hinkle Fieldhouse. Somebody forgot to remind Loyola of that, because for 35 minutes, they gave Butler all they could handle before the Bulldogs pulled away for a 59-44 victory. The win, coupled with Cleveland State's loss at home to Wisconsin-Milwaukee, gives Butler the regular season MCC title. Loyola held Butler to 38% shooting for the game, but could only muster 33% themselves. The Dawgs were led by Rylan Hainje's 14 points. He hit 4 straight free throws down the stretch to help seal the victory. He also pulled down 8 rebounds. Mike Marshall got a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out on a technical foul in the second half. Mike didn't agree with a foul called against him (his 4th), and threw his mouthpiece to the floor in anger. That got him T'd up, and was also his 5th foul. Andrew Graves hit 2 key 3-pointers in the second half en route to 10 points. Thomas Jackson, who was closely defensed for the entire game, had 6 points and 7 assists.

The regular season closes out Saturday with what promises to be a very emotional afternoon. The last game for Andrew Graves and Mike Marshall will be February 26 at 2:00 pm in Hinkle Fieldhouse against the UIC Flames. I encourage everyone to come pay tribute to the tandem that could, with a win, become the winningest class in Butler basketball history. You won't be sorry.
