DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

WE'RE GOING DANCIN', BABY! In front of a national TV audience on ESPN, the Butler Bulldogs proved who the best team in the conference truly is by defeating the Detroit Titans 62-43 and earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. This was a completely dominating performance from start to finish for Butler. They shot better, defended better, rebounded better, passed better, and executed better than the Titans. The numbers are staggering: we shot a blistering 61% while holding Detroit to just 26%; we held Rashad Phillips and Desmond Ferguson to a combined 8-33, including just 2-14 from downtown; we held the Titans to 14% from 3-point range as a team. Any chance of this game starting like last year's debacle was done away with quickly, as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 16-6 lead and never looked back. You knew things would go our way when LaVall Jordan BANKED in a 3-pointer early on. Just 5 players scored for Butler, but 3 of them combined outscored Detroit's whole team. Jordan led the way with 19 points, shining once again in the national spotlight. Scott Robisch owned the Titans from mid-range, cashing jumper after jumper en route to 15 points. Rylan Hainje busted out with 11 points, all in the second half. Tournament MVP Mike Marshall added 9 points and 6 rebounds. Joel Cornette had 8 points and 4 rebounds in just 15 minutes. Thomas Jackson didn't score a point, but accounted for around half of our points with 15 assists.

Now we wait to see where the powers that be place us in the Big Dance. Butler's athletic department will once again be putting together a travel package, regardless of where we go. Fan support was huge this past week in Chicago, and I hope you all can come dancin' with the Dawgs next week!
