DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

You knew it would be a defensive battle, it was just a matter of whose defense would prevail. Fortunately for Bulldog fans, the home team came out on top, handing Wisconsin-Green Bay their first MCC loss, 60-44. Butler held the Phoenix to 34% shooting for the game, and if you subtract the performances of B.J. LaRue and Jeremy Pfister, that number drops to 24% (6-25). LaRue was on fire, leading all scorers with 17 points and 5 3-pointers. But he didn't get enough help from his teammates, especially fellow senior Jerry Carstensen. Carstensen was 1-11 from the field and held to well below his 15.1 point average.

For the Bulldogs, senior Andrew Graves led the way with 12 points. He hit a couple of long bombs that brought back memories of his older brother Matthew. LaVall Jordan didn't appear too hampered by his heavily taped ankle. He finished with 10 points, and looked fairly comfortable. Hopefully he'll be 100% soon. Thomas Jackson had 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. Rylan Hainje came off the bench with 9 points and 7 rebounds. Mike Marshall had 8 points and 5 rebounds. All in all, a well-balanced effort from the Bulldogs.

On a serious note, UWGB's Ryan Mueller was taken off the floor on a stretcher in the first half after he caught an inadvertent elbow on the forehead. My thoughts and prayers are with him, and I hope he's back on the floor soon for the Phoenix.

The 3-game home stand continues this Saturday when the Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers come to Hinkle. Game time is 2:00 pm. Hope to see you there.
