DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

This was a good effort all around by the Bulldogs. We started conference play with a win, which was better than Detroit and Loyola did. We kept our win streak at home alive, and once again won by 20 or more at Hinkle. We turned up the defense, and held an opponent under 50 points for the 5th time this season. But perhaps the biggest thing to come out of this game was the revival of Rylan Hainje. Not in the starting lineup for the first time in over 40 games, Rylan responded with his best effort of the season. He had 20 points (16 in the second half), was 8-12 from the free throw line, and played extrememly well on defense. He was the lone Bulldog in the second half who was willing to attack Wright State's defense and take the ball to the hole rather than settle for 30 seconds of perimeter passing followed by a rushed shot. Rylan has been in a funk to say the least lately, and it was nice to see him have a breakout game. Hopefully the tenacity he showed will carry over beyond this game. LaVall Jordan was the agressor for the Bulldogs in the first half. He slashed up the Raider defense en route to 14 first half points and 19 for the game. He also pulled down 9 rebounds. We started 3 guards for this game, and each played well. Besides Jordan, point guards Thomas Jackson and Andrew Graves were in the starting lineup. Jackson finished with 4 points and 6 assists, while Graves added 11 points, 4 assists, and a 6-6 effort from the free throw line. Darnell Archey nailed a trey in each half for six points. Overall, a solid game from Butler, and a good way to start MCC play.

A tough 2-game road swing this week will tell us a lot about this team. Game #1 is this Thursday when the Dawgs travel to Cleveland State to play some Rollie-ball against the Vikings. CSU is currently in first place in the conference by half a game at 2-0, sweeping the Chicago contingent of the MCC on the road this past weekend. Game time in Cleveland Thursday night is 7:30 pm EST.
