DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

Butler won a hard-fought game over Birmingham-Southern on the road, 71-62. BSC, a 2-time NAIA national champion, made the move to NCAA Division-I this season as a provisional member, and certainly convinced the Bulldogs that they belonged. It was a close game for the first 25 minutes or so, then the Darnell Archey show began. The spindly sophomore shooting guard drained 4 straight 3-pointers, converting a 4-point play on the last one. That made the difference, as the Panthers were unable to mount a comeback.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Archey, without question. He scored 17 points off the bench, 15 in the second half. He appears to have taken over Andrew Graves' role as sparkplug off the bench. The New Castle Connection of Archey and Brandon Miller seems to be working well.

Thomas Jackson led all scorers with 19 points, and also pulled down 5 rebounds. He bounced back from a rough outing at the free throw line in game one by knocking down all 8 of his attempts in this game. Joel Cornette added 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Miller chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. The Panthers were led by Corey Watkins' 15 points (all in the second half), and 13 points from Joe Ransom.

Butler gets a week to enjoy Thanksgiving break before hitting the Hinkle hardwood against in-state rival Ball State. The Cardinals had their way with Butler in Muncie last season, and the Bulldogs will be looking to avenge that loss. The home team has won this match-up each of the last 3 years. The game is Monday, November 27 at 7 pm. Hope to see you there.
