DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

The Bulldogs are going dancin' for the fourth time in five years after shutting down Detroit 53-38 in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference Championship. In a season where Butler's defense hasn't been as solid as in years past, the Dawgs put the clamps on the Titans and two-time MCC Player of the Year Rashad Phillips. Phillips scored 11 points on 5-of-14 shooting, and as a team Detroit managed just 24% from the field. Toss in a 14% effort from 3-point range, and the fact that UDM was outrebounded by Butler 43-28, and you get a long night for Titan fans. The only Titan to hit above 33% from the field was Mike Harmon, who was 1-for-1 on a dunk.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Rylan Hainje. #42 finished with a double-double, scoring a game high 20 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. He also had a pair of thundering dunks. He held Detroit's Terrell Riggs to just 2-of-9 from the field. Rylan also made the All-Tournament team for his efforts.

Senior LaVall Jordan had a quiet 10 points, but many of those came when Butler desparately needed to score. He pulled down 9 rebounds, many again coming right when we needed them. Vall was named Tournament MVP. Joining Hainje and Jordan on the All-Tourney team was Joel Cornette, who finished with 5 points, 8 rebounds, and one monstrous blocked shot that is still hovering somewhere in the Nutter Center rafters. Brandon Miller struggled from the field for just 2 points, but managed 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Thomas Jackson was held scoreless in the first half, but finished with 5 points and 4 rebounds. Off the bench, Darnell Archey chipped in 7 points, and Scott Robisch finally got the monkey off his back and chipped in 4 points. Detroit was led by Phillips' 11.

The Dawgs must now play the waiting game on Selection Sunday. But the wait isn't to find out "if", it's to find out "who, when, and where". And that's definitely the best position to be in on Sunday.
