DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

Butler won its final home game of the season, dominating the Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix from start to finish, 78-52. Butler jumped out to a 15-0 lead and never looked back. The Phoenix scored its first point at the 11:30 mark in the first half, and its first field goal at 10:39. By that time, it was 18-4 and they never got closer than 12 from that point on.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Thomas Jackson. TJ was unstoppable at both ends of the floor. He led all scorers with 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting, and dished out 3 assists. He also had 7 steals, many of which he converted into lay-ups at the other end. A pair of plays stand out: on one steal, he jumped up and intercepted a lob pass, went behind his back with the ball in mid-air, and drove up the sideline for an easy lay-in; on another play, he blocked a 3-point attempt by UWGB's DeVante Blanks, caught his own block, and once again converted a lay-up at the other end. He was everywhere in this game.

LaVall Jordan played his final game on the Hinkle hardwood, and went out on a good note. He finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds, and capped his Butler career by kissing the Bulldog logo at mid-court before leaving the game. He made a fade-away 3-pointer as the shot clock expired to give the Bulldogs a 17-point lead in the second half. That shot was a key part of a 15-0 run that sealed the game. Joel Cornette was a rebound shy of a second straight double-double, finishing with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Brandon Miller added 13 points, and Scott Robisch pulled down 5 rebounds off the bench. The Phoenix was led by Greg Babcock's 11 points and 7 rebounds.

Turnovers made the difference in this game. UWGB turned the ball over 24 times, while forcing just 11 Butler miscues. The Bulldogs out-rebounded the Phoenix 31-20, and shot 53% from the field compared to 49% for UWGB.

The Bulldogs head to Chicago for the final 2 games of the regular season. First up are the Loyola Ramblers. Game time is Thursday, February 22, at 8 pm.
