DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

Butler bounced back from a disappointing home loss with an impressive home victory, defeating Tennessee-Martin 77-48. The visiting Skyhawks were late arriving to Hinkle due to traffic on the northeast side of town, and never seemed to be in sync. They turned the ball over 32 times, and never seriously threatened the Bulldogs.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: LaVall Jordan. The senior guard was 6-7 from the field, including 5-6 from 3-point range, finishing with 21 points and 4 assists. Honorable mention goes to freshman wingman Duane Lightfoot. In the first significant PT of his career, he played quite well. His stat line wasn't overwhelming, but his effort was solid, and he should be seeing a lot more floor time.

In a lopsided game like this, it's not surprising that lots of Bulldogs had good numbers. Joel Cornette finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Brandon Miller had 13 points, Darnell Archey added 10, and Rob Walls chipped in 8 points. Thomas Jackson dished out 7 assists and had 5 steals. Okechi Egbe led the visitors with 9 points, and Jeremy Sargeant pulled down a game high 8 rebounds for the Skyhawks.

There were a few points of concern for the Bulldogs. Free throw shooting once again was poor, as the Dawgs finished 21-37 (57%) as a team. Cornette was 2-7, and Miller missed 4 straight en route to 8-14. We coughed up 16 turnovers, which kept the game closer than it should have been. But all in all, this game was a nice recovery from Saturday's debacle, and hopefully a sign that we have turned a corner.

Butler gets a day off before returning to the Hinkle hardwood this Wednesday (12/20) when Santa Clara comes to town. Game time is 7 pm. Hope to see you there.
