DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

Butler advanced to the championship game of the Top of the World Classic with a 76-59 victory over the Delaware Blue Hens. The Bulldogs got off to a much better start than in game one, taking the lead for good at 6-4. Poor free throw shooting by Butler kept Delaware within 8 at 40-32 after the first 20 minutes. The Dawgs were only 10-of-19 from the charity stripe in the first half. Butler hit 13-of-14 from the line in the second half to help keep the Blue Hens at bay.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Scott Robisch. The sixth-year senior showed that he is back to his 1999-2000 form with a career-high 24 points on 11-for-14 shooting and pulled down 5 rebounds. Robo hit 5 straight shots during a second half run that put the game away. Having a healthy Scott Robisch is a major plus for the Bulldogs, and through the first 2 games he looks like he's back to 100%. After all he's been through over his collegiate career, he certainly deserves an enjoyable and injury-free final year.

Two other Bulldogs finished with double digits. Thomas Jackson and Brandon Miller each scored 16 points. More importantly, they got to the free throw line a combined 18 times one game after Butler only managed 3 total attempts as a team. The Dawgs went to the free throw line 33 times. TJ also dished out 6 assists, and Miller added 4 assists. Mike Monserez and Darnell Archey finished with 6 points apiece off the bench. Delaware's lone double-figure scorer was David Hindenlang with 10 points.

Once again, Butler's defense played a key role in the win. They forced 21 Blue Hen turnovers and have caused 41 turnovers through their first two games. It was also nice to see that the Bulldogs could be relatively quiet from 3-point range (3-for-9) and still score more than enough points to win. They took good care of the ball once again, finishing with a 14-to-9 assist-to-turnover ratio.

The Bulldogs will face the Washington Huskies out of the PAC-10 in the TOWC championship. Tip time is scheduled for approximately 11:15 p.m. EST Sunday night.

Duke from Cincinnati:
The stat line looked a little bit more like a typical
Bulldog game. I was wondering in the first game how we only shoot 3 free
throw attempts in an entire game. It is good to see that we are back to
making more free throws than our opponents shot. I obviously didn't
get a chance to watch the game but I can imagine that we did more to put
pressure on the opponents defense. Off to a good start.
