DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

The Butler Bulldogs opened exhibition play with a 64-55 victory over the Canberra Cannons at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The same Canberra squad won at Michigan State 104-85 the night before. Granted, Magic Johnson suited up for the Cannons against the Spartans and not against Butler, but to hold a team averaging nearly 100 points a game back home in the Australian National Basketball League to just 55 is pretty impressive for Butler's first time out this season. I was unable to attend the game, so I can't really comment on how everyone played. Brandon Miller led Butler with 17 points, and he and fellow senior Lewis Curry hit back-to-back three-pointers to break a 53-53 tie and give Butler the lead for good. Darnell Archey added 14 points, Curry finished with nine, and Joel Cornette had a team-high seven rebounds. Canberra was led by Reggie Poole with 17 points and eight rebounds, and former Michigan State player David Thomas added 16 points and seven boards.

Those of you who did attend, please feel free to add your comments via the form below to help me write the game story. Who looked good? Was the defense as impressive as the numbers would indicate? What story didn't the recaps tell? Any input you'd like to give is appreciated.

Butler's final exhibition game will be Tuesday, November 12, at 7:00 p.m. against GT Express at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Hope to see you there.
