DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

The Butler Bulldogs finished their trip to the BCA Invitational on a high note with a 66-41 victory over the Lehigh Mountain Hawks. The Bulldogs used a 10-0 run to take a 13-2 lead with 12:30 to go in the first half, and were in command from there, never trailing in the contest. Butler held the Hawks to just 12 points on 25% shooting in the opening frame. The Bulldogs led by as many as 30 at 61-31 with 4:41 remaining and cruised to the victory.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: A. J. Graves. The sophomore scored nine points in the first half, including seven straight at one point, and finished with 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

Three other Bulldogs finished with double digits in a balanced Butler attack. Avery Sheets finished with 14 points (4-of-7 from three-point range) and three rebounds. Brandon Polk added 11 points and three rebounds. Bruce Horan also finished with 11 points. Brandon Crone had eight points, five assists, four steals, and three rebounds. Julian Betko finished with five points, Marcus Nellems added two points, and Brian Ligon had one point. Lehigh was led by Kyle Neptune's 11 points and 10 rebounds.

One promising development over the past two games was the way different people stepped up as their teammates struggled. Yesterday, the guards struggled to put points on the board in the first half, but Polk and Ligon carried the load. Today, Polk struggled in the first half, but the guards were able to knock down shots. The Bulldogs played well in all aspects of the game. Defensively, they held Lehigh to 40% shooting and forced 19 turnovers, 10 via steals. Offensively, Butler connected on 10 three-pointers at a 50% clip while committing just four turnovers and shot 77% from the foul line. They did get outrebounded 32-25, but Lehigh only outscored Butler 11-4 in second-chance points. All in all, a great way to end the tournament.

Butler returns to the Midwest to face a familiar face in their next contest. The Bulldogs travel to Ohio State to face former Butler player and coach Thad Matta and the Buckeyes. Game time is Tuesday, November 22, at 8:00 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus.
