DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

The Butler Bulldogs made 21 three-pointers en route to a 109-47 exhibition victory over Oakland City. A Bruce Horan three-pointer broke an early 2-2 tie and gave Butler the lead for good. Butler led 58-24 at halftime and cruised to a 62-point win.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Brandon Polk. The senior forward finished with a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds in his first action since offseason shoulder surgery.

Horan led all scorers with 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting from behind the arc. A. J. Graves was 5-of-7 from long range en route to 17 points to go along with five assists. Avery Sheets added 16 points (4-for-5 on three-pointers) and seven assists with no turnovers. Brandon Crone finished with 15 points and five rebounds. Marcus Nellems had 12 points and four rebounds in his Bulldog debut. Also seeing the floor for the first time in a Butler uniform was Julian Betko, who had five points and three rebounds. Brian Ligon returned from his second knee surgery in as many seasons to finish with four points. Freshman walk-on Ben Slaton rounded out the scoring with two points to go with three rebounds. The only Bulldog eligible to play who did not was Drew Streicher, who was in street clothes as he recovers from a knee injury. He is supposed to be back in three to four weeks. OCU was led by John Lane's 11 points off the bench.

I won't spend much time analyzing a 62-point exhibition win. But the 21 three-pointers would have set a team record were this not a preseason game. And it was great to finally see Betko on the court, as well as getting a chance to see Nellems and what he brings to the table.

Butler will face the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks in the opening round of the BCA Invitational at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY. Game time is Sunday, November 13, at 2:00 p.m. EST.
