DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

The Butler Bulldogs ran their record to 10-0 with a 65-41 victory over the Ball State Cardinals at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Butler broke open a 4-point game with a 13-2 run to take a 22-7 lead at the 9:30 mark of the first half. BSU made a mini 4-0 run, but the Bulldogs pushed their advantage out to 18 at halftime, 35-17. Butler started the second half with a 17-5 run to lead 52-22 with 12:12 remaining. The Bulldogs led by as many as 33 at 63-30 with 3:52 left, but the Cardinals scored 11 of the game's final 13 points to set the final margin at 24, with Butler earning a 65-41 victory.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Mike Green. Mike's on quite a roll right now, leading all scorers with a career-high 21 points (his 5th straight double-figure game), six rebounds, and four assists. "Mike Green is probably the best point guard we've played against all year, hands down," said Ball State head coach Ronny Thompson afterwards. "It's not even close." Mike hit three three-pointers, also a new career best.

A. J. Graves had 11 points and four rebounds. Julian Betko also finished with 11 points. Brandon Crone had six points. Willie Veasley had four points and a career-high seven rebounds. Drew Streicher and Pete Campbell added four points each. Brian Ligon had two points and four rebounds, and Ben Slaton added a late basket for two points. BSU was led by Anthony Newell's 11 points.

Ball State has been struggling offensively this season, and Butler's defense did little to help the Cardinals' shooting percentages. BSU shot just 30% overall and 14% from behind the three-point arc. Butler forced 16 turnovers and held a 19-4 advantage in points off turnovers. The Bulldogs continue to shoot free throws well, connecting on a season high 91% of their attempts. They outrebounded the Cardinals 34-31, although BSU did have a 13-6 advantage in second chance points. That wasn't nearly enough for the visitors tonight, however, and Butler rolled to its 10th straight win.

The Dawgs next travel to Terre Haute to face the Indiana State Sycamores. Game time is Saturday, December 9, at 7:00 p.m. EST.
