DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS

The Butler Bulldogs set both a school and Horizon League record by making 20 three-point field goals en route to a season high 92 points, defeating the Cleveland State Vikings 92-50 at the Wolstein Center. The Bulldogs set the tone early, as their first 15 points came via the long ball. Brandon Crone's layup made it 17-4 at the 13:04 mark of the opening half, and the lead did not dip below 11 from that point. Butler's 12 first half treys equalled the previous Wolstein Center record for three-pointers in an entire game, and the Bulldogs led 45-25 at the half. Crone then broke the arena record at the 18:43 mark of the second half. Marcus Nellem's triple with 3:53 remaining broke the old Butler record of 18 set last year at Detroit, and freshman walk-on Nick Rodgers connected on the 20th Bulldog three-pointer of the night with 1:22 remaining as Butler cruised to a 92-50 victory.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Pete Campbell. Pete hit his first five three-point attempts en route to an 8-of-11 performance from beyond the arc and 10-of-13 overall. He finished with 28 points, setting a new Butler career high and equalling his top point total while at IPFW. The eight three-pointers were also a new collegiate career high.

Mike Green had 14 points, nine assists, and six rebounds. Crone added 13 points and six rebounds. A. J. Graves finished with 12 points and a career-high 7 assists. Marcus Nellems had six points off the bench, while Brian Ligon added five. Willie Veasley added four points, five rebounds and three assists. Elliot Engelmann set a new career high with four points. Rodgers finished with three points (his first points as a Bulldog), while Drew Streicher added two points and three rebounds. Julian Betko had a point and three rebounds. CSU was led by J'Nathan Bullock's 18 points.

I don't think it's physically possible for Butler's offense to play much better than it did tonight. The stats are mind-boggling: 20 three-pointers, 65% shooting overall, 61% from three-point range, and perhaps most impressive of all (and most indicative of how well things were going), 27 assists on 33 field goals. They held CSU to 37% shooting and outrebounded the Vikings 32-16. A dominating performance on the road, no matter how you look at it.

Butler's two-game road trip through Ohio comes to a close with a huge match-up against the Wright State Raiders, who are just one loss behind the Bulldogs in the Horizon League standings. Game time is Saturday, February 10, at 7:00 p.m. EST.
