DAVE'S POSTGAME ANALYSIS
The Butler Bulldogs used a 13-2 run to close the first half and take control of their Horizon League opener, defeating the Cleveland State Vikings 70-45 at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The opening minutes saw two ties and two lead changes, with Butler eventually building a seven point lead on two occasions, the latter coming at 22-15 at the 5:28 mark. A 5-0 CSU spurt pulled the visitors within two, but a 13-2 run keyed by a pair of Pete Campbell three-pointers gave Butler a 35-22 advantage at halftime. CSU got within 9 at 39-30 with 14:11 to go, but the Bulldogs went on a decisive 18-2 run to put the game out of reach, 57-32 with 6:45 left. Butler's lead grew to as much as 27 late, and the Bulldogs cruised to a 70-45 victory.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Mike Green. Mike continues to stuff the stat sheet, posting game-highs of 16 points (his fourth straight 16-point effort) and eight rebounds. He also dished out three assists and did not commit a turnover in 37 minutes.
A. J. Graves finished with 14 points and five rebounds. Also finishing in double figures was Brandon Crone, who had 10 points and dished out a game-high five assists. Campbell and Brian Ligon added eight points apiece, while Drew Streicher added six points. Willie Veasley provided his usual spark off the bench, finishing with four points and five rebounds. Marcus Nellems had three points, and Ben Slaton had a late free throw for one point. CSU was led by J'Nathan Bullock and Kevin Francis with 11 points each.
Butler shot over 50% for the first time since the opener at Tulane, connecting on 52% of their shots. Three-point shooting was a tale of two halves: the Bulldogs were 5-of-10 in the first half, but missed all 10 attempts from behind the arc in the second half. Fortunately, they held a 32-20 advantage in points in the paint and a 21-6 advantage in points off turnovers. They held CSU to 33% shooting. All in all, a great start to HL play.

Butler steps back out of league play now, welcoming the Ball State Cardinals to Hinkle Fieldhouse. Game time is Wednesday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m. EST. Hope to see you there.
