Call to

Mhór Rioghain

Thomas Potter, 2000

An Mhor Riogain

Mhór Rioghain, majestic queen,
Before whom demons fiercely fear to cross.
Sensuous enchantress, holy heifer,
Bravest heroes' hearts are lost.

My heart is honored, veracious, and clear.
In this place and in this hour,
hear my voice, I love in call.
Grant me now the midnight power.

Light and dark, death to birth,
Your wisdom is what I seek.
Let our wrath undo the wicked,
And our strengths uphold the meek.

They have reconstructed Mhór Rioghain as Morrigan. She fits into the night hunter and supernal maiden sort of archetypes. She is a shape-shifter and the Great Queen of Affalon (án Mhór Rioghain means "the great queen")

She is the goddess of passions, of both love and war, and we know her to be rather sensual. She is the entrepreneur, or la Conquistadora. Like Kali-ma, with whom we may see Mhór Rioghain having a beer on occasion, she is the slayer of demons and the huntress of the night. Her sensual dance is creative in nature in that it destroys what the Horned God has created, making room for more creation. As the night huntress, she pursues the dark beasts of ignorance and oppression. When she catches her prey, she will sing her victory at dawn so all may hear.

Like Lucifer, she defies conventional custom to bring enlightenment into the hands of the most unlikely of recipients.

We may identify her with the black eel, white heifer, and the grey wold. Chocolate or blood are her favorite offerings.
