Alternative Membership Opportunities

Alternative memberships are provided for girls who, for any reason, are unable to participate in a traditional troop setting or choose not to.

Activity Centers
Staffed facilities which offer the Girl Scout program. Part of the Urban GS program.

Classroom Scouting
In-school membership program for girls with disabilities.

Crossroads
Short-term program to develop unserved areas in the suburban communities.

Double Dutch
Jump roping clinics and a tournament, to foster team-building skills and increase physical fitness. Part of the URban GS program.

Girl Scouting in the School Day
In-school program for girls in the urban area at selected pilot sites. Part of the Urban GS program.

Metro Green
Opportunity for Cadette/Senior Girl Scouts who are individually registered to participate.

P.E.G.S. - Postal Express Girl Scouts
Girl Scout program through the mail consisting of quarterly program packets sent to individual girls registerd to participate.

Saturday Delight Specials
Monthly outreach events in the urban area. Part of the Urban GS program.

Shelter Program
Programs implemented at area homeless shelters. Part of the Urban GS program.

Sizzlers
Summer outings to camp for girls from urban areas.

Sunsations
Summer program opportunities for girls from rural areas.

Workshops
Short-term outreach workshops on self-esteem, hygiene, values, leadership, fashion, decision making, money management, etc. in the urban area. Part of the Urban GS program.
