Have you ever wondered about anything? hehehehhe Sometimes I do. I wonder how do stars twinkle? Have you ever wondered that? I wonder why zero in tennis is called "love". I wonder who invented Ice Cream? I wonder where in the world is the longest Roller Coaster? I wonder if I can find the answers to these questions? hehehhehe Well I can find the answers, I have a book called, "Kids Question and Answer Book", by Jane Parker Resnick. It has a lot of questions and a lot of answers too.
Did you know that stars really don't twinkle? You say, then what I am seeing, because I see them twinkling right up there in the sky! Well, starlight passes through our atmosphere, and that's where the "twinkling" begins. Dust, smoke, and other particles are always dancing about in the atmosphere. All those swirling particles interfere with the star's light. The star appears to dim and brighten. Also, the atmosphere bends or refracts, the light rays. These things create the special effect we call "twinkling". Now isn't that a really neat special effect by nature, and there were no camera's taking a movie! hehehhehehehhe
It certainly doesn't mean tennis players love to lose. The answer is in between two languages. Love may come from the French word "l`oeuf" which was slang for zero. English people that invented the modern version of tennis, pronounced it "luff". Sometime around the 1800's it became the word "love".
Nobody knows who invented Ice Cream! Most historians agree that Italy's Catherine De Medici with help from chef Bernardo Boutalenti, these people introduced "cream ice". Yeah I know what you are saying "yeah that is backwards" but listen to what happened next! hehehehe It wasn't known as Ice Cream until it reached America in the 1700's. It became wildly popular! President George Washington spent a lot of money on the costly dessert. The price dropped the next century when Jacob Fussel invented the first Ice Cream factory in Baltimore, Maryland.
The longest roller coaster "The Ultimate" is in Light Water Valley Theme Park, England. It is a whopping 1.42 miles. WOW! COOL let's goooo! hehehehehehhe
DID YOU KNOW HOW MUCH TIME LEFT UNTIL THE YEAR 2000???
