Racers

One day when I was looking at 5920 Island Racer I thought that I could do better. The idea caught on and I have made several race cars. The plan is to have an entire race track filled with racers of different colors and shapes. I have always wondered why the six Formula 1/Indy-racers in 6335, 6337 and 6546 from 1996 are identical except for the color. It would have been very easy to make them slightly different.

One common feature of the race cars are the spare tire. That's because they are racing long distances on public roads rather than on closed tracks. When the car was young most countries had such races where the car could prove itself useful on rugged roads. One of the ways to make the cars different is to have the spare tire stored in another place.

	Dark Green Racer (January 2006) The stand is erupting in a loud roar when Dirk MacGrean passes in his Dark Green racer.
	Bugatti Type 29 'Cigar' (December 2005) This 1922 racer earned the nickname 'Cigar' both from it's shape and from the plume of smoke coming from the exhaust pipe passing through the tapering tail. Type 29 was only an interim solution and already next year Bugatti turned up with a new type. So I decided to make this racer black and not the official French racing color as if it was used second-hand.

	Dannebrog Racer (May 2004) Daniel Daneskov is in a tight spot but he is enjoying the ride.
	*Light Grey Racer "Silberpfeil"* (March 2004)** The huge crowd is cheering as Lothar Graf von Lichtgraurenner is taking the lead.
	Lime Limerick Racer (February 2004) Liam Lenaghan is racing down a dirt road. But who is that in the ditch?
	Brown Racer (January 2004) Belmont Boscop is still close behind Tancy Trabzon.
	Tan Racer (December 2003) Tancy Trabzon is leading the race with Belmont Boscop close behind
	Pink Polonez Racer (October 2001) Penelopa Podolska is participating in the same mountain climb.
	Blue Bugatti Racer (August 2001) Benoit Bleu is climbing up a small mountain road.
	Orange Opel Racer (May 2001) Onno van der Oranje is just behind Johnny Young.
	Yellow Youngsmobile Racer (April 2001) Johnny Young is passing the same house, where the father has joined the rest of the family on the porch.
	Red Renault Racer (March 2001) René Rouge is passing a house in his Red Renault Racer. The family is is out to wave at him.
