Oswald Cobblepot was born into a wealthy family. At birth his parents were horrified to discover that their newborn son was born with deformed hands that resembled penguin claws and a beak-like nose. They could not cope with the appearance of their son and abandoned him. As an adult, Cobblepot turned to a life of crime and used his appearance as an identity. He donned a tuxedo, carried a lethal umbrella and called himself the Penguin.
