
BASIC FIVE SHOOTING DRILLS -
Before doing Basic Five, work on Rhythm Drill - with and without a ball. Three Count: One: Stance; Two; Left Ball, Flex Knees; Three: High Extension - Fingers in the basket (Hi Mom!). Eyes focus on target!
1) One hand form shooting-stand in front of basket with shooting hand and legs doing all the work (ball balanced on 5 fingers). *Statue of Liberty
2) Add the devil (guide hand) "Always bring off hand to ball!
3) Form shooting (start at #2 Position) hands and ball above the eyes, moving into stance (side to side - block to block - use the glass)
4) Spin outs - stand on baseline, under basket, on foul line, toss the ball 5-10 ft. from the basket; jump, stop, pivot (right handers use left foot, vice verse) Shoot the ball; increase range to elbows.
5) Shot pocket shooting - start very close (5 ft.), Shoot the ball; successful, move away gradually until you reach !he foul line. Later, move to 3 pt. are and beyond. *NOTE: Place the second ball behind the wrist to guarantee the shot pocket and cock the wrist at the same time.
STATION WORK - "THE JORDAN 7"
i) Jab step - Jump shot; ball fake - jump shot cock wrist of shooting hand
2) Use Jab step/ball fake - 1 dribble - lay-up (right)
3) Use Jab step/ball fake - 1 dribble - (step across) lay-up (L)
4) Use Jab step/ball fake - 1 dribble - jump shot (right)
5) Use Jab step/ball fake - 1 dribble - jump shot (left)
6) Use Jab step/ball fake - 1 dribble - hesitation, 2nd dribble, lay-up
(right) 7) Use Jab step/ball fake - 1 dribble - hesitation, 2nd dribble,
lay-up (left)
