Happy Thanksgiving!!!
This is my favorite time of year! It is not the getting that I love so much about this year....it is the GIVING!!
Jesus telling us "Then shall he answer them, saying, verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did (it) not to one of the least of these, ye did (it) not to me." Matthew 25:45 Some ways to share our bounty with those less fortunate, are donating food, clothes and toys to local Helping Centers in your city and area. You can help your kids learn about reaching out and helping others this holiday season. You can adopt a family or a child, or even donate a very special gift to someone less fortunate. You and your child will feel so much better for doing so.
Below are some stories that I have received on the internet. They are true examples of reaching out as Jesus commanded us. If you have a story to share (either your own story or one you found on the internet) Please send it, and I will include it in our next Issue....December.
May God Bless your Family during this Holiday season and always!!

This was sent to me and I wanted to share it with my LOTH sisters .... sorry for the length!
I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, 3) and have recently completed my college degree. The last class I had to take was Sociology. The teacher was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human being had been graced with. Her last project of the term was called "Smile." The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document their reactions. I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say hello anyway.....so, I thought, this would be a piece of cake, literally.
Soon after we were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son, and I went out to McDonald's, one crisp March morning. It was just our way of sharing special play time with our son. We were standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of a sudden everyone around us began to back away, and then even my husband did. I did not move an inch...an overwhelming feeling of panic welled up inside of me as I turned to see why they had moved. As I turned around I smelled a horrible "dirty body" smell... and there standing behind me were two poor homeless men. As I looked down at the short gentleman, close to me, he was "smiling". His beautiful sky blue eyes were full of God's Light as he searched for acceptance. He said, "Good day" as he counted the few coins he had been clutching. The second man fumbled with his hands as he stood behind his friend. I realized the second man was mentally deficient and the blue eyed gentle man was his salvation.
I held my tears....as I stood there with them. The young lady at the counter asked him what they wanted. He said, "Coffee is all Miss" (because that was all they could afford to sit in the restaurant and warm up, they had to buy something...he just wanted to be warm). Then I really felt it...The compulsion as so great I almost reached out and embraced the little man with the blue eyes. That is when I noticed all eyes in the restaurant were set on me...judging my every action. I smiled and asked the young lady behind the counter to give me two more breakfast meals on a separate tray. I then walked around the corner to the table that the men had chosen as a resting spot. I put the tray on the table and laid my hand on the blue eyed gentleman's cold hand. He looked up at me, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Thank you." I leaned over, began to pat his hand and said, "I did not do this for you...God is here working through me to give you hope."
I started to cry as I walked away to join my husband and son. When I sat down my husband smiled at me and said, "That is why God gave you to me, Honey....to give me hope." We held hands for a moment and at that time we knew that only because of the Grace that we had been given were we able to give. We are not church goers but we are believers. That day showed me the pure Light of God's sweet love.
I returned to college, on the last evening of class, with this story in hand. I turned in "my project" and the instructor read it....then she looked up at me and said, "Can I share this?" I slowly nodded as she got the attention of the class. She began to read and that is when I knew that we, as human beings and being part of God, share this need to heal people and be healed. In my own way I had touched the people at McDonald's, my husband, son, instructor, and every soul that shared the classroom on the last night I spent as a college student. I graduated with one of the biggest lessons I would ever learn.... UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE.
Much love and compassion is sent to each and every person who may read this and learn how to LOVE PEOPLE AND USE THINGS - NOT LOVE THINGS AND USE PEOPLE. If you think this story has touched you in any way, please send this to everyone you know.
May God bless you.

An Eye Witness Account from New York City, on a cold day
in
December...
A little boy about 10 years old was standing before a
shoe store on
Broadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and
shivering with
cold. A lady approached the boy and said, "My little
fellow, why are
you looking so earnestly in that window?"
"I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes," was the
boys reply.
The lady took him by the hand and went into the store,
and asked the
clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy.
She then asked
if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He
quickly brought
them to her.
She took the little fellow to the back part of the
store and, removing
her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet and
dried them with a
towel. By this time the clerk had returned with the
socks. Placing a
pair upon the boy's feet, she purchased him a pair of
shoes, and tying
up the remaining pairs of socks, gave them to him.
She patted him on the head and said, "No doubt, my
little fellow, you
feel more comfortable now?"
As she turned to go, the astonished lad caught her by
the hand, and
looking up in her face, with tears in his eyes,
answered the question
with these words ...
"Are you God's Wife?"
The Good Deed
He was driving home one evening, on a two-lane country
road. Work in
this small mid-western community, was almost as slow as his
beat-up
Pontiac. But he never quit looking. Ever since the Levis
factory
closed, he'd been unemployed, and with winter raging on, the
chill had
finally hit home.
It was a lonely road. Not very many people had a reason to
be on it,
unless they were leaving. Most of his friends had already
left. They
had families to feed and dreams to fulfill. But he stayed
on. After
all, this was where he buried his mother and father. He was
born here
and knew the country. He could go down this road blind, and
tell you
what was on either side, and with his headlights not
working, that came
in handy. It was starting to get dark and light snow
flurries were
coming down. He'd better get a move on.
You know, he almost didn't see the old lady, stranded on the
side of the
road. But even in the dim light of day, he could see she
needed help. So
he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His
Pontiac was still
sputtering when he approached her. Even with the smile on
his face, she
was worried. No one had stopped to help for the last hour
or so. Was he
going to hurt her? He didn't look safe, he looked poor and
hungry. He
could see that she was
frightened, standing out there in the cold. He knew how
she felt. It
was that chill that only fear can put in you. He said,
"I'm here to
help you m'am. Why don't you wait in the car where it's
warm. By the
way, my name is Joe."
Well, all she had was a flat tire, but for an old lady, that
was bad
enough Joe crawled under the car looking for a place to put
the jack,
skining his knuckles a time or two. Soon he was able to
change the tire.
But he had to get dirty and his hands hurt. As he was
tightening up
the lug nuts, she rolled down her window and began to talk
to him. She
told him that she was from St. Louis and was only just
passing through.
She couldn't thank him enough for coming to her aid. Joe
just smiled as
he closed her trunk.
She asked him how much she owed him. Any amount would have
been all
right with her. She had already imagined all the awful
things that could
have happened had he not stopped. Joe never thought twice
about the
money. This was not a job to him. This was helping someone
in need, and
God knows there were plenty who had given him a hand in the
past. He had
lived his whole life that way, and it never occurred to him
to act any
other way. He told her that if she really wanted to pay
him back, the
next time she saw someone who needed help, she could give
that person
the assistance that they needed, and Joe added "...and
think of me".
He waited until she started her car and drove off. It had
been a cold
and depressing day, but he felt good as he headed for home,
disappearing
into the twilight. A few miles down the road the lady saw a
small cafe.
She went in to grab a bite to eat, and take the chill off
before she made
the last leg of her trip home. It was a dingy looking
restaurant.
Outside were two old gas pumps. The whole scene was
unfamiliar to her.
The cash register was like the telephone of an out of work
actor, it
didn't ring much. Her waitress came over and brought a
clean towel to
wipe her wet hair. She had a sweet smile, one that even
being on her
feet for the whole day couldn't erase. The lady noticed
that the
waitress was nearly eight months pregnant, but she never let
the strain
and aches change her attitude. The old lady wondered how
someone who had
so little could be so giving to a stranger. Then she
remembered Joe.
After the lady finished her meal, and the waitress went to
get her change
from a hundred dollar bill, the lady slipped right out the
door. She was
gone by the time the waitress came back. She wondered where
the lady
could be, then she noticed something written on a napkin.
There were
tears in her eyes, when she read what the lady wrote. It
said, "You
don't owe me a thing, I've been there too. Someone once
helped me out,
the way I'm helping you. If you really want to pay me back,
here's what
you do. Don't let the chain of love end with you."
Well, there were tables to clear, sugar bowls to fill, and
people to
serve, but the waitress made it through another day. That
night when she
got home from work and climbed into bed, she was thinking
about the money
and what the lady had written. How could she have known how
much she and
her husband needed it? With the baby due next month, it
was going to be
hard. She knew how worried her husband was, and as he lay
sleeping next
to her, she gave him a soft kiss and whispered soft and
low,
"Everything's gonna be all right, I love you Joe."
---------- What is a Christian? -----------
His name is Bill. He has wild hair, wears a T-shirt with
holes in it,
jeans and no shoes. This was literally his wardrobe for his
entire four
years of college. He is brilliant. Kinda esoteric and
very, very
bright. He became a Christian while attending college.
Across the street from the campus is a well-dressed, very conservative church. They want to develop a ministry to the students, but are not sure how to go about it. One day Bill decides to go there. He walks in with no shoes, jeans, his T-shirt, and wild hair. The service has already started and so Bill starts down the aisle looking for a seat. The church is completely packed and he can't find a seat. By now people are looking a bit uncomfortable, but no one says anything. Bill gets closer and closer and closer to the pulpit and when he realizes there are no seats, he just squats down right on the carpet. (Although perfectly acceptable behavior at a college fellowship, trust me, this had never happened in this church before!)
By now the people are really uptight, and the tension in the air is thick. About this time, the minister realizes that from way at the back of the church, a deacon is slowly making his way toward Bill. Now the deacon is in his eighties, has silver-gray hair, a three-piece suit, and a pocket watch. A godly man, very elegant, very dignified, very courtly. He walks with a cane and as he starts walking toward this boy, everyone is saying to themselves, "You can't blame him for what he's going to do. How can you expect a man of his age and of his background to understand some college kid on the floor?"
It takes a long time for the man to reach the boy. The church is utterly silent except for the clicking of the man's cane. All eyes are focused on him. You can't even hear anyone breathing. The people are thinking, "The minister can't even preach the sermon until the deacon does what he has to do."
And now they see this elderly man drop his cane on the floor. With great difficulty he lowers himself and sits down next to Bill and worships with him so he won't be alone. Everyone chokes up with emotion. When the minister gains control he says, "What I'm about to preach, you will never remember. What you have just seen, you will never forget."
Graduation Day
A young man was getting ready to graduate from
college. For many
months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's
showroom,
and
knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that
was all he
wanted.
As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautifully wrapped gift box. Curious, and somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angry, he rose his voice to his father and said "with all your money, you give me a Bible?" and stormed out of the house.
Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realised his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day.
Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.
When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still gift-wrapped Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. His father had carefully underlined a verse, Matt.7:11, "And if ye, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly Father which is in Heaven, give to those who ask Him?" As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words PAID IN FULL.
How many times do we miss God's blessings because we can't see past our own desires?
