FANFAIR/FAN CLUB PARTY 1998 REVIEWS

Here's my review of what I was fortunate enough to see of Alan while
I was in Nashville. As you know I was lucky enough to see Alan at the Opry
on the 12th. Even though I had to buy tickets to Friday nights show and both
of Saturdays shows to be sure I got the right one. When Alan took the stage
on Friday night the place went absolutely nuts!!! He sang "Livin on Love",
"Farewell Party" and "Chatahoochee". I thought he did a wonderful job with
"Farewell Party", which is an old Gene Watson song and I had never heard him
sing it before..He strutted his stuff believe me and he went from one side
of the stage to the other shaking hands with those fortunate enough to get
that close to the stage..I wasn't one of them..The fan club party, my first,
was so exciting...When Alan ask what we wanted to hear someone shouted out
"together again"...Alan said" Aww, I knew you all would start that right
off", or something along that line...He looks so good, a little thinner and
kind of tired, but still goooooooood. I was scared to death that they would
draw my ticket stub from the barrell and I would have to go on stage...I
would have died without a doubt...I met a lot of new friends and listened
to a lot of Alan stories from other fans...It was like being in "Alan
Heaven"...Can't wait till next year!!! Submitted by: Audrey (friday1@email.msn.com)

Fan Fair was great as usual! I started my vacation with a side trip to
Pidgeon Forge. Alan's restaurant was really cool. There are huge wall
pictures of Alan everywhere!! I checked them all out and decided there were
only four that I didn't have! I was tempted to pull them off the walls
(HA!) There is a large amount of Alan memorabellia to purchase, I really
enjoyed the new stuff made up for his restaurant. I think he should sell
ripped jeans and sleeveless shirts!! Here's a rundown on what's available
to eat, I know alot of fans were interested in the menu!! I had the lasagna
which was excellent!!!!!! And I had the red velvet cake which I thought was
a bit dry, but really sweet:)

Alan had his first tour bus parked outside, and alot of old cars around
the front of the building. He has a few small (child-like) cars outside
also. Inside are his wooden boat!! His two red sports cars, his
Harley!!!!!! and constant video footage can been seen everywhere!! (YEE
HAW!) I particularly enjoyed the footage of his concert last year on
Centerhill Lake!! And lots of footage of him and his band members riding
their Harley's!! They also had footage of the cars being brought to the
restaurant!! WAY COOL!!!!!

Alan's fan club party was great as usual. He drew fan members names out
of a big barrel and they got to go up to Alan one at a time to get their
gifts! The first lady to win was shaking so badly!! I don't think she
wanted to leave the stage!! (HA). He gave away t-shirts and the grand prize
was the bumper taken off the BIG-FOOT truck in "Who's Cheatin Who"!!!!!!
Alan tried to get Ali to do a dance. He said she's been taking dancing
lessons, and she's really good; but she's shy!
Little Dani (9 months) was really a busy body!! She was walking and
running behind the drummer throughout the whole show!! One time, Ali went
to get her. Ali tried to carry Dani back, but they both fell over behind
the drums!! Mattie was busy visiting with the other kids beside the stage.
I think they were their cousins (Alan's sisters kids).
I really enjoyed Alan's performance at Fan Fair!! I got to sit in row
five for the whole day!!! I had a seat saved for a friend. A lady with two
big cameras asked if my seat was taken. I told her a friend might come
back, I wasn't sure yet. Come to find out, the lady was a photographer of
Alan's!!!! She was there to take pictures for the AJ Newsletter. I knew I
better let her sit down or ya'all would kick my butt if there weren't any
pics in the next newsletter!! (HA)
I noticed when Alan was singing "Home" that he had a tear running down
his face. I guess he was thinking about his Dad, he had just mentioned his
Dad's recent car accident and his injured arms.
After Alan was done performing at fan fair, all the fans sat around and
talked about what an excellent performance....everyone was shaking from the
excitement!!!!!!!!!!
The Awards Show ticked me off!!! I was so mad at the "BILLY RAY CYRUS"
show, that I didn't even get tickets for next year!!! I know he's got alot
of obsessed fans with lots of money, but I personally think that Billy and
his fan club mailed the members some money and asked them to call those 900
numbers!! Next year we take back what is rightfully
Alan's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We outnumber his fan club by millions!!

Alan Jackson Fan Club Party!!

On the evening of Tuesday June 17, 1997, AJ fans lined the streets, walkways and steps of the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville, TN., to catch the arrival of country music star Alan Jackson. At 5:15pm., a long white limosine pulled into the Ryman, with excited screaming fans following right behind!! Alan got out and waved to the fans, then was quickly escorted into the Ryman. The party opened with a video tape depicting Alans' life with Ford vehicles and his recent Ford commercials. Alan walked onto the stage, along with the Strayhorns. Alan talked about his career, music and introduced each band member and a little bit about them. Several fans walked up to give Alan gifts. One brave lady walked onto the stage and had Alan autograph her jacket. Alan commented, "Boy, she just walked on up here, didn't she?" After that incident, security sat down on the steps to the stage. The music throughout the nearly 2 hour show, was performed "half-wired". Alan took the time to thank the fans for voting him, "Entertainer of the Year" and "Male Vocalist of the Year", for the TNN Music City News Awards, Monday June 16,1997. Ticket stubs from the attending fan club members were put in a bag and shuffled. 10 lucky members were "drawn" and took to the stage, to answer questions about Alan. At the end of the show, Alan had his lovely wife Denise and daughters Mattie and Ali stand up before the crowd. They were joined by Alans' parents, and other family members!! This was our first fan club party to attend!! We had a wonderful time and the Ryman is a beautiful place!!!
