In late August, Brigham was released from serving as 1st counselor in a single student ward's Bishopric. He's currently ward music chairman and Sacrament meeting chorister in our home ward. Brigham is still serving on the city council. It's been three years, so he only has one more to go. At work, he is the supervisor of his department. He performs several times a year. Most recently he was Mr. Bluff in Mozart's "Impresario" and was a jury member in Gilbert and Sulliven's "Trial by Jury."
Jennifer is currently a stay at home mom and loves it! She is serving as young women music specialist in our ward and is also a BabyCenter.com bulletin board host. She was the orchestra director for the 2001 summer community musical "Li'l Abner" and stays very busy as a mommy of two!
For those of you who don't know, we met in a music education class in college when Jennifer was teaching Brigham to play the flute. We dated, and the rest of the story is history! Although we didn't admit it at the time, we thought we'd get married after about the first date, and vaguely approached the subject after our second. We were married in the Bountiful, Utah temple in July 1996.
After putting off children, we really felt that we shouldn't wait any longer, and the month of our third wedding anniversary, Amelia Skye was conceived. She was born more than nine months later, much to the discomfort of her mother, and has been a delight ever since. Hannah came almost exactly 22 1/2 months later on her due date, March 8th, 2002.
It's hard to believe we've been in our house since October 1998, but it also seems like we've always been here. Our yard is not going great. We just haven't had time to keep it up.
We both love nature, and love our yard and garden. Hopefully we'll have more time to work in it soon. I found a scripture in the Doctrine and Covenants that echoes my feelings on nature. It is in section 59, verses 18 and 19:
18. Yea, all things which come of the earth, in the season thereof, are made for the benefit and the use of man, both to please the eye and to gladden the heart.I really like knowing that our Heavenly Father gave us flowers and other plants for the sole purpose of making us happy.
19. Yea, for food and for raiment, for taste and for smell, to strengthen the body and to enliven the soul.
Brigham and I both belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Our Heavenly Father knows and loves each one of us. Jesus Christ is our exempler and guide. He loves us so much that He suffered in the garden of Gethsemane for us so that we could repent of our sins and be saved. He died on the cross and rose the third day so that we could be resurrected and attain perfection and eternal life. We are not alone on this earth. We can always pray and the Holy Ghost will comfort us.
One of my favorite scriptures is when Christ said,
"Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not. Behold the wounds which pierced my side, and also the prints of the nails in my hands and feet; be faithful, keep my commandments, and ye shall inherit the kingdom of heaven"(Doctrine and Covenants 6:36-37).
I hope you will feel the peace of the gospel and of knowing that we are not alone on this earth. Our Heavenly Father knows each of us and loves us. All we need to do is turn to him.
