Gracie is nearly 17 months old, and still loves nursing. She will giggle and squeal with delight when it is time to nurse. She had weaned to just the start and end of each day, as it seemed to be less important to her recently. I find that I now miss that skin to skin contact with her throughout the day. Those two times help me to "reconnect" with Gracie, and ensure that she gets some undivided attention, since she is my youngest of three and some
days can be busy! I also am glad that breastfeeding benefits her in ways that nothing else can. I have seen our whole family ravaged by a bad cold, yet Gracie has barely a snifflle: supermilk to the rescue! Toddlers don't always eat well,
so I'm glad to know she benefits from milk that's made for her, not baby cows or goats. At this point, our nursing relationship is a quiet time to wake up and go to sleep with, which we both enjoy very much. I had never envisioned myself nursing a 2 year-old, but can't imagine quitting anytime soon. I
think I'd go into prolactin withdrawl! I wonder sometimes who enjoys it more, until I get one of those dripping with milk "thank you" grins that lights up her whole face. It doesn't get any better than this...
My daughter Jessica will be 3 on Aug. 09, and breastfeeding is a part of our mother/daughter bond. Whenever my daughter is ill or had a bad day, breastfeeding is the only nutrition she wants...I am glad we are a great breastfeeding team! I would encourage all to give it a try.
