50 ways to relieve stress

  1. Take a walk
  2. Give or get a back rub
  3. Take a long warm bath
  4. Sing- any song will do
  5. Sleep
  6. Pet a cat/dog/bird/teddybear
  7. Tell all your troubles to a cat/dog/teddybear
  8. Curl up on the couch in warm pajamas with a cup of herbal tea and a good book
  9. Treat yourself to flowers, and remind yourself you deserve them
  10. Do something for someone else, an elderly neighbor, a relative-whoever
  11. Make a list of everything you love to do, then do at least one thing off the list
  12. Start a new hobby
  13. Learn to crochet/knit
  14. Write a long letter to a friend all about your feelings, you don't have to mail it, just get in touch with yourself
  15. Watch an old/funny movie
  16. Go to the zoo and observe the animals
  17. Hug a tree
  18. Clean the house top to bottom
  19. Close the doors and scream as long and loud as you want
  20. Get a manicure/pedicure/haircut/facial
  21. Browse the library, immerse yourself in other people's writing
  22. Write a story about your childhood
  23. Buy yourself an exercise outfit, then really exercise in it.
  24. Write a note of encouragement to someone, but make it anonymous
  25. Perform a random act of kindness
  26. Sit quietly and BREATHE, concentrate in the sound and feeling of your breath.
  27. Go on a listening walk- count how many sounds you hear, and describe them
  28. Bake cookies, and give them to someone.
  29. Spend some time talking with the elderly in a local nursing home.

  31. Read your high school yearbook

  37. Go to the local hardware/office supply/kitchen...store and buy something for yourself ( retail therapy)

  39. Plan your perfect outing...sites,food,purchases...and then plan the day you WILL do this.
  40. Make a list of all your good qualities, tape it on the bathroom mirror
  41. Have an imaginary conversation (in the privacy of your own room) with the person who causes you the most stress. Really listen to what you say.
  42. Vow to share some of your conversation with them, they may not know the level of stress they are causing you.
  43. Listen to a subliminal relaxation tape
  44. Watch fish in an aquarium, imagine yourself as a fish swimming with them.
  45. Go to a playground and observe little children...notice thier wonder at the world.
  46. When you are grocery shopping, buy one item a better quality than normal....gourmet coffee, premium ice cream, fresh veggies instead of frozen. Know you are worth the effort.
  47. Buy new underwear, and wear them. Don't save them for a special day. Every day is special for you.
  48. Chew 3 pieces of bubblegum, try to blow the biggest bubble ever.
  49. Buy a bottle of liquid bubbles, blow bubbles outside and watch how high they go. Imagine your stress flying away inside of those bubbles.
  50. Lie quiet on a comfortable surface. Tell each part of your body in turn to relax. Let your mind drift.
