TLC's "Holiday Magic" Craft Show
You won't want to miss this one!
T.L.C. crafters even put Santa's elves to shame! From gifts to decorations, you are bound to find it here. Of course what would an event like this be without an array of yummy baked goods!
Now if you would still like to donate something for the sale, it is not too late to get started on a project. You have till the morning of the sale to bring it in. Which brings us to drop off times. Craft items may be brought to the shelter up until the Thursday before the sale Nov.l2th. If brought to the hall the day of the sale you may drop them off at 9:30 A.M.
As for baked goods they should be brought directly to the sale and dropped off at 9:30 also. Please have everything prepriced! We are also asking that you label bakery as to what it is so we are not guessing is it apple pie or peach?
Every cent made at the sale will go to help the shelter provide care for the animals during the cold winter months. So mark your calendars and plan to attend!
Holiday Help Tip: Purchase enough baked goods to freeze for the holidays, then just thaw when unexpected guests arrive. When guests ask if it is home made you can honestly answer yes!
TLC Garage Sale
It was hotter than blazes but the garage sale for the shelter went on. Sharon Hager, Donna Holous and Annie Coleman sweated it out to help our furry friends. Annie has had her garage filled to the brim with sale items for quite a while, and Sharon didn't have use of her garage for the days of the sale. This year's sale was really great, bringing in over $700.00!
Special Thanks to Ethel and Jennie Rodriguez
We wish to thank Ethel Rodriguez and her daughter Jennifer for running the T.L.C. table at the Lockport business expo. They handed out pamphlets and pet care information, along with trying to promote adoptions. They took along a portfolio of photos of adoptable pets looking for someone to love. We really appreciate the good job they did.
Have a Sure Fire Fundraising Idea?
One of the hardest things in operating the shelter is raising needed monies to provide care for the animals. Since we do not receive any funds from the state or local government, fundraisers are a must to make up the deficit. Only problem is that so many of the fundraisers have been used over and over, people are starting to say " been there done that" so the response is not as good to some of these events as they once were.
If you have an idea or a new twist to an old event please let us know.
Loss of a Tail Far Better than Loss of a Life
She was left in a box on the front stoop of the shelter. A mere bag of bones of a cat. The stench that came out of the box was nearly enough to make you sick - it was the smell of rotting flesh. The cat had gangrene. The end of her tail was nothing but a hairless decaying pulp, infested with maggots. She had to receive medical treatment immediately, or she would not survive. Dr. Caffarini performed the surgery, bobbing the cat's tail, and treating her with antibiotics. As you can see in the picture, Maggie (the name volunteers gave her) recovered nicely. When people asked what type she was, we kiddingly said a "Bobbed tail Persian", then we would tell them the tale of Maggie's woes. Maggie is one of the fortunate ones that your contributions have helped to save....without your help we would not be telling you Maggie's story today. Just goes to show what little "T.L.C." can do!
Think Flowers
Thinking about sending a nice plant or centerpiece to someone across town or someone across country for a birthday, anniversary or for the holidays? If you place your order through Floral Alliance, not only will your gift delight the recipient, it will also be helping the animals at T.L. C.! Just call 1-800-423-5803 to place your order, and remember to give the shelter's code number NP-1136, so the shelter receives credit.
