The Bride and Groom!!!

Our wedding was very nice, and we are finally legally married!!! Tom, also known as Abe, and I met in 1980. I was, at the time working at the Hardee's in Hanover, Pennsylvania, as a cashier. Our General Manager was leaving, and Tom was his replacement. I did not get a very good first impression of him, which I later found out was because he was soooo nervous on his first day!! At this time I was married, and I had a three year old Son, Andrew, and pregnant with my Daughter Kristin. Tom was engaged and got married this year. In 1981, I became a full time breakfast supervisor, and Tom and his wife had their first of three Daughters, Miranda. Tom and his wife had 2 more Daughters, Kathryn in 1983, and Rebecca in 1986. For 10 years we were part of the best management team that Hardee's ever had!!! In 1991 I divorced, and started my life as a single Mom. Tom was still married, but his marriage was on a rocky road. During that year our conversations started to turn from strictly business to a more personal level. We found a common ground that brought us together. We both just wanted to be happy in our lives!! I remember Tom always saying that his wife kept telling him to move out, but separating isn't an easy thing to do, so he stayed. Then one morning he came to work and said that he did it. He had moved in with his parents for the time being until he got on his feet again. One day I asked him if after work he wanted to go out by Codorus Lake. We went, and just sat by the lake, talking about our lives, and how we had never expected to be divorced. We talked, and talked, and talked. The lake was so beautiful, and the perfect setting for what we later called "our first date", although at the time neither of us yet knew what was yet to come. Since that day at the lake we have become inseparable!! Tom moved in with me and my kids right before Christmas 1991. We became engaged with no date set, on December 15, 1998. He proposed on my Birthday after we had gone out to eat at Red Lobster, in Hanover, Pennsylvania. We had some bumpy family times during the 11 years that we lived together, but we vowed our love to each other, and never left those times interfere with the happiness that we both had sought for so long!! We knew that those times were normal for trying to raise 5 kids from two separate worlds. We dealt with the jealousies, the insecurities, the competition and the attitudes, as best we could, and formed the strongest bond that two people could ever have!! During the time that we lived together, we had always talked about getting married, but never actually set a date. After being divorced, marriage takes on a whole new meaning. A legality. In 2000 Tom came home, and said that he had booked a 13 day vacation for us, and we had 2 1/2 years to go. I mentioned that if we were taking that amount of time off work we might as well make it a honeymoon. He agreed and we decided to be married in April of 2002. We spent 2 years planning the wedding, but more importantly the ultimate honeymoon!! And here we are!! All of our kids are grown, and we have the rest of our lives to be happy together as Husband and Wife!!

My engagement ring and band are 3 1/2 ctw, combining pear, round, and baguette diamonds.
Abe's Band was handcrafted by a Scottishman from Canada. The Na Mara (The Sea) pattern is taken from the Book of Kells, one of the finest illuminated Celtic manuscripts dated circa 800 A.D.
