Our Vacation to

Williamsburg, Virginia

October 31,2004 - November 6, 2004

Ok, so we FINALLY went somewhere other than Florida!!
Williamsburg, Virginia was absolutely BEAUTIFUL this time of year,
with the Autumn colors peaking out of the trees.
The weather was PERFECT!! We had one day of rain,
but we planned to go to the Williamsburg Pottery Outlet
that day and spend the day indoors. So everything worked out nicely!!
We spent one day at Busch Gardens "Howl-O-Scream",
two days at the Pottery Outlet, two days in Colonial Williamsburg,
and one day we visited President's Park, which just opened in March of '04.

We took the walking path into Colonial Williamsburg,
and that's where these pictures were taken.

Along the walking path is the "New Hope Plantation",
actually being built before your eyes, by settlement re-enactors.

.....and here's Abe and I :)

This windmill is at the end of the walking path,
before entering Colonial Williamsburg.
Not authentic, but I couldn't resist a picture with the grazing sheep.

The Courthouse

Bruton Parish Church

These two pictures were taken standing outside the Capitol,
and looking across at Christiana Campbell's Tavern.
See what I mean about how BEAUTIFUL the trees were?

This is the only picture I took inside the Capitol.
It was one of the meeting rooms for the Governer.

.....and some pictures of Abe and I, outside the Capitol building

The Governor's Palace

I had to take a closeup of the plaque in front of the Palace,
since it is surrounded by Kate's favorite flower, Lantana. Just for you, Kate...

The entrance to the Governor's Palace was decorated to intimidate the guests.
Check out all the guns and knives on the walls and ceiling.
I was INTIMIDATED!!!

Other rooms inside the Governor's Palace.....

The Ballroom with portraits of Governor and Lady Dunmore.
He was the last Governor prior to the American Revolution.
The Dunmore's fled through this room, and out the back door
of the Palace, in the dead of the night for fear of their lives.

Looking out the back door of the Palace into the gardens.

...and the last images the Dunmore's saw of the Palace as they escaped.

A bridge scene behind the Governor's Palace

Settlement re-enactors.....

And a friendly squirrel chomping down a piece of bubble gum.

President's Park
This new park has 20 foot statues of every President.
Each one has trivia facts listed, and is really quite interesting.

Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream was cool,
but I could not take many pictures during the coolest part,
cuz it was TOO DARK!!
I took these pictures because there was a secret mist over the water,
but you can't really see the mist in the pictures.
It's a good thing because Abe and I have a difference of memory,
as to whether the mist was from Leprechan's or Jack-O-The-Lanterns.
And if you know Abe and I,
you would be laughing your ass off right now.

...And finally, some pictures of our timeshare exchange.
Our suite was smaller than we are used to, but adequate.
It was definitely located perfectly,
so our drives to each place we went were within minutes.

So, once again, we had an EXCELLENT WEEK!!!!
That's it for now, until July,
when we head back to DISNEY, with Kate!!!
