Dogs We've Loved

DOGS WE'VE LOVED

I don't have any pictures of my first beloved collie named Champ. Several years after moving and giving him up,when I was around 10 years old, we got these two wonderful dogs - Kelly and Chris. They are English Shepherds, a beautiful medium sized dog, looking a bit like an undersized collie. Chris eventually left us to live with a very nice guy named Johnny. Kelly remained with us until her death at the ripe old age of 14 years old! She was a great dog, very protective of us, almost humanlike in her understanding and love for us. Kelly is on the left, looking puzzled at her goofy acting brother! They were only about 10 weeks old here...adorable! I am holding Kelly up and my poor sister is trying to keep Chris from running out of the picture!! My little brother is amused by all of this!

Here's Kelly at 5 years old, watching the rain!

PRECIOUS PUP!
This is my little Courtney...sunshine of my early adult years. This is the sweetest little pup God ever made! She is pictured here at about 2 1/2 months.

MY PRECIOUS COURTNEY GIRL!
Courtney was born on Valentine's Day in 1978 and she always lived up to that billing. She was such a loving collie. She is pictured here at almost 4 months, the long and lanky stage, but I still thought she was adorable!

Here's Courtney at 3 years old. This was her first FULL coat and it was really full! Notice the tennis ball in her mouth. She was always ready with her tennis ball when we went out the backdoor!

This is Courtney and Captain with Bobby. This picture was taken when they were young and energetic, and played all day every day! Captain looked lovely then but later developed terrible allergies and his coat suffered.

After my Courtney girl died, Skipper, the husky came to live with us at the age of 7 weeks. He was a beautiful dog but had a strong dominant streak in him. After several years of stubborn, dominant behavior and a final confrontation in the sandbox with two toddlers between us, it was decided that Skipper would be better off with a man handling him. And so, with sorrow, yet relief, we bid him goodbye.
