He married Sophia Otilla BOEHLER 1877.⁽¹²⁷⁹⁾ Sophia was born in Brooklyn, Kings, NY 13 MAR 1859.⁽¹²⁸⁰⁾ Sophia was the daughter of Frederick BOEHLER and Sophia BOCKMIER. Sophia died 17 SEP 1901 in Allegany, Cattaraugus, NY, USA, at 42 years of age.⁽¹²⁸¹⁾ Her body was interred SEP 1901 in Allegany, Cattaraugus, NY, USA, St. Bonaventure Cemetery. During the peak of the oil boom, John owned a hotel with about 40 borders, but in 1894 the hotel burned down. After that, he owned a farm and worked in the oil fields. John also quarried stone for basements and building foundations. He delivered the stone for the wall in front of the St. Elizabeth Convent, Allegany, NY.
