One thing we can all use are tips to make our lives easier. I hope you find some of these useful.
Kitchen. We all spend more time in here than we like, so tips are great to have to bring our time to a minimum in the kitchen.
Run your hands under cold water before pressing rice krispies into the pan so the marshmallow wont stick to your fingers or rub hands with oil.
Slice your meat while it is slightly frozen, it makes it easier to get thin slices
When a cake recipe calls for flouring the pan, use a bit of the dry cake mix instead. That way you don't have the white mess on the outside of your cake
Place a slice of bread in hardened brown sugar to soften it back up.
If you have trouble opening jars, keep a pair of latex dishwashing gloves handy. They give a non-slip grip that makes opening jars easy.
Spray your Tupperware or plastic containers with nonstick cooking spray before pouring in tomato-based sauces. No more stains!
Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator-it will keep for weeks!
Use lifesavers to hold candles in place on your next birthday cake.
Use a pastry blender to cut ground beef into small pieces after browning.
Mash and freeze ripe bananas, in one cup portions for easy baking later. Or peel them and freeze them whole. This way, you wont have to throw them out when they get ripe Just freeze them for later use in banana bread, etc.
For a quick substitute for an ice bag, grab a pack of frozen veggies.
keep a squeegee by the shower so when you are done with your shower wipe off the shower doors. Keeps hard water from building up.
Use a dab of perfume or cologne right near the light bulbs. When it heats up it will fill the room with the fragrance.
If you have shower doors that have build up on them, use baby oil and wipe it on the glass doors.
To help remove mold/mildew, wipe with vinegar. It kills the mold bacteria.
After you have cleaned the grout and tile, put turtle wax liquid car wax on the tile..polish when dry.
Use a soft cloth and denatured alcohol to polish the chrome on your faucets, and/or to clean the mirrors
What helps with toilet cleaning is to poor some bleach into the toilet and let it sit for a while. Then just flush.
Candles last longer if placed in freezer before lighting them.
Wear an old sock on each hand like a glove and go at dusty surfaces with both hands at once.
Prevent scrapes on your walls from frames by gluing pieces of styrofoam or erasers to the back/ bottom of the frame. This will also help keep the picture straight.
If you ran out of those long matches, why not use a piece of spaghetti. It works well for a substitute.
If you have to hammer nails that are too small to hold, use a bobby pin or a pair of tweezers to hold the nail while you hammer.
If you have room, get a separate laundry basket for each person. When you take clothes out of the dryer, put in persons basket it belongs to. That way if you don't have time to sort and hang up, everyone does not have to dig through a large pile, just their own basket.
